Dude have you read through any of the comments? With so many people still commenting that they missed the deal, it's obvious how many people don't take a little time browse through the comments to track the progress of the deal.

Anyone can get this deal whether your location has it in stock or not. Ask a Best Buy rep to order it for you and they will charge you the sale price. Simple as that. I know it's hard to comprehend Best Buy doing something right after the iPad price match fiasco from a couple of weeks ago but people really need to check the thread comments and stop asking the same questions over and over again

$220 for a Name brand 5.1 4k receiver? And speakers? And a sub? Maybe 10 years ago.

I just paid 250 for this receiver 2 months ago refurbished.

It's a solid device BTW. Paired it with a JAMO set.

Is getting Best Buy additional warranty worth with this product purchase? It costs $40 for 4 years. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Recommend it. My Yamaha rx-v681 crapped out in year 4 (Google Yamaha receiver flashing red light) $400 down the toilet

Not a horrible idea if it's a good warranty. Modern day receivers have a lot more electronics in them and tend to die more often. I've had a Yamaha and Denon bite the dust within 5 years of purchase.

Or if it dies, just buy a $40 surround receiver off Goodwill. There are some really nice Onkyo's, Denon's and Yamaha's for under $30 right now with HDMI. And earlier models with optical out.

I have a decade-old Pioneer VSX-521-K that occasionally drops the volume. I have to shut off the power to the receiver and turn it back on (sometimes a few times) until the audio comes back. I have been looking for a really good deal on a receiver. I bought one of these. I really don't need or want the extra speakers. Is this a good deal on a basic receiver or should I just look for a deal on a receiver only? Thinking of just selling the speakers. What should I sell the speakers for if I go that route?

This video says the speakers have one 2.75 inch full range speaker, 6 ohm, and 83dB sensitivity. That's disappointing. Yamaha could have at least went with a 2 way design and not cheap sound bar style drivers. Always look for 8 ohm and 90dB or higher speakers. This receiver, even being entry level, is complete overkill for these plastic speakers. Yet it still may get warm due to the inefficient design of 6 ohm and 83dB rated speakers. No harm or foul as the receiver was never lower then $199 by itself. The 8" subwoofer basically cost $21 (vs the $40 Monoprice 8" sub recently listed). The satellites can be replaced down the road.

Not an audiophile by any means, so maybe you might know:
I have the HKTS 16 from about 5 years ago that I found through Slickdeals. The specs on the speakers are close to what you've just mentioned about this Yamaha deal (I think?) https://www.harmanaudio.com/HKTS+16.html

Based purely on the specs, which ones should I use for the receiver, the Harmon or the Yamaha ones?

Not really no Atmos or eARC is a pretty big deal even for just streaming
Find an atmos receiver with earc for less than $500 that includes speakers. This receiver isn't for people who need 7.4.2 with pre-outs and 110 real watts per channel. It's for people who want something better than a sound bar. For $220 it's a great deal for a lot or people.

$220.00 is a decent deal on the RX-V385 especially if you can unload the cheap speakers and sub for $80.00 or so.

Did you go into the menu and adjust the equalizer? You should have tone controls, plus the parametric equalizer where you can bump the higher frequencies.

See the unboxing video below to show actual size.

I've yet to see someone take off the grills.
The satellites sound light, plastic like an htib, when she takes them out and sets them on the table.

If you used the setup mic, make sure it was totally silent, not even a fridge running in the next room. Then go in and tweak the settings to your liking. These are basic speakers so don't expect audiophile from them but any system takes a bit of tweaking to get dialed in.

Also try different placement and orientation of the sun. Usually a corner is best, sometimes port facing out, sometimes facing the wall.
I did used mic for initial setup. Waiting for speaker wall mounts to mount properly and then re-calibrate. I do have Refrigerator and HVAC in basement, probably need to shut them off while calibrating.
