Not sure where you're getting that. This is 6" SRK fixed. and usually it goes for $54.99 when it's on sale. Retail is $69.99 on it. So they're giving it to you for the discount, plus throwing in the Trail Boss Hatchet. You may be thinking of the 5" that sometimes sells between $30-35.
You're right. I didn't realize this was the 6" and not the 5" SRK.
The 6" knife is on Amazon right now for $38 and it has been as low as $33 within the past year.

Edited: This is a good deal if you're in the market for both the axe and the 6" SRK. I don't own the knives but I own a few of these axes and they're great for the sale price. Fun to modify them also.

This is an OK deal. The axe regularly goes on sale for $25-$30 and the knife is also around that price when on sale. This is basically both of them in a bundle at their typical sale price.

Really want - holding back. I have an OKC (Ontario Knife Company) Sp-2 Survival Knife that would probably hold up great against this for probably the same price if not cheaper. Plus for what it's worth it's an American made knife. I'll keep holding off on this one but they better not have another sale or I'm gonna have to make it happen. This kind of reminds me of the SOG Sealpup Elite, also made in Taiwan.
I like my Gerber Prodigy as well and some of their survival line products. I picked up a Camillus Swedge knife at Walmart about 6 months ago that rocks...it's whole purpose is for batoning wood but it was around the $20 price point. It's got a massively thick blade...I wish it was bigger but it's a beast. It's probably more for utility than defense or survival but it'll be able to do a little of all of that. It's a chunk of sharp steel.

So the combo bought separately on Amazon would be $78,18 ($37.84 + $40.34) if you wanted them both..
