Of my many SSD drives over the past 10 years I've had two fail. Both happen to be ADATA. That's enough I will not buy one again.

Does this actually compete with the WD on the front page?

Picked one up for my new build. Benchmarks just a smidge above the 980 pro. Read it's basically rebranded XPG Gammix S70 and runs the same firmware.

Question: Would there be a reason why I shouldn't get this and use my aluminum enclosure I have sitting around? To have as a back up drive for photos?

Adata screwed me with 8200. I had good controller on 500gb hdd with high speed at the time. So next build I bought 1 tb and they dropped controller and speeds. No thanks to adata they did not tell n e one about their changes

Just backup for my kiddo photos. I have a Samsung 970 NVMe in my desktop, then a normal HDD was my backup. I shoot RAW photos, so I'm looking for a faster and more reliable method of a backup over the HDD. I wasn't sure if buying something like this and using an enclosure is a bad idea over one that comes ready to use.

ADATA? Are we sure this is 2GB and not 2MB? Scammers.

Same here! I bought a 1 TB SX8200Pro and a 2TB SX8200Pro. Fast fast fast until they both died after a few months. Was replaced wiith the same but same in name only, Replaced the controller with a slower version, replaced the NAND with Adata labeled slower NAND. Speed dropped dramatically by about 1/3rd. From premium speed to budget speed. Not buying Adata again!

I bought a 2TB ADATA and it died after a year. It was corrupting everything and my computer wouldn't boot with it plugged in. I was able to kind of read the data on it with an external enclosure but couldn't get much off of it due to the corruption and no disk repair would work. It's been 2 months since trying to warranty the thing and on their page they say if they try to contact you 2 times and you don't respond you're shit out of luck because they'll drop the warranty and everything. Their website for supplying the warranty was a nightmare and it took me a couple weeks of trying and emailing different emails before I finally found the right place to submit the warranty. So far it seems I'll be absolutely lucky and more than surprised if the drive actually gets back to me repaired or replaced. But I'll never trust that drive with data that I value. It'll be a junk drive for stuff that means nothing to me.

I hate to see I have company with my ADATA luck, but I'm also glad you all are posting your failures also.
