FYI: I own a LOT of ryobi tools that I love. This isn't one of them. I have owned two of these and both experience pretty bad blade drift. Could be terrible luck on my end but I'm not gonna roll the dice a third time
I have had the brushless version for a couple years and have been very happy with it. No drift and no issues to speak of. Been a great tool for me.

If you're mechanically inclined, you can resolve the issue with this jigsaw by replacing the blade guide roller with one from a different brand. It costs no more than $6 if you already have a punch.
The problem with Ryobi's is the channel is slightly wider than it needs to be, so it's not stabilizing the blade as well as it could.
An easy way to test this without tinkering too much is to put some scotch tape on either side of a wood cutting blade or pop in a thick metal blade and see if it still walks on you.
Another negative experience with this one, but from the general battery/cordless perspective.
We took advantage of the 2 2AH battery deal, and bought this to go with it, which was a terrible idea. Fully charged battery would be dead after ~10 mins of usage. Turns out these go with the even bigger 4AH batteries
it's better to use corded for jigsaw for people like us(weekend DIYers)
Please do not buy this. It tracks horribly, wont cut straight, and bending blades is common. I ended up with one of these and after the first use I threw it in a storage tote.

amazing how a Bazillion dollar company can't spend the six bucks and fix this.

Why fix it? People buy it because it's cheap, and then once they use it they toss it aside to buy the brushless one instead. Perhaps that's why they're a billion dollar company!
And I concur with the earlier posters: I'm generally a Ryobi fanboy, but their basic jigsaw is maybe the worst tool I own. Haven't tried the brushless one yet, but will likely upgrade as soon as I can find it on sale.

If I recall, the brushless uses a Ridgid blade guide (same parent company). So the issue is "fixed", but not because it's brushless.
In terms of performance, you're only getting more battery life out of the brushless versus a brushed model. More torque isn't needed and higher RPM just leads to burning blades quicker.
I'd say pick a cheap corded model from a different brand (Harbor Freight's Bauer brand is actually really good) or get this one and modify it.
