Cheaper, but not higher performance. Looking at the youtube benchmark comparison videos, most games are 5-10% faster on the 6600xt. TDP of the 6600xt is also 160 watts versus 225 watts for the 5700xt. I've been looking at used 5700xt on ebay and its hard to get one for $150-160, which to me would be a good price based on performance and higher watts of the older gen.

Used 5700xt for cheaper and higher performance?
Definitely not higher performance. I purchased both a 6600 XT (new) and 5700 XT (used) during the past year.

I bought a used RX 5700 XT as a gift for a younger sibling. It really depends on the pricing you find and the condition since a ton of the ones for sale on eBay are bulk sales from miners. An acceptable RX 5700 XT with ok thermals in good condition was hovering around $160-190 during the past few months. The gap in FPS we're seeing is about 10%, more or less in line with TPU: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-s...0-xt.c3339 I'd advise people to research RX 5700 XT variants since some have pretty bad reviews and mediocre thermals while others are solid.

And as Paul mentioned, there is a noticeable gap in power usage so that can add $10-25/year in operating costs based on your usage and avg US electricity prices. Of course, Adrenalin does provide a decent way to tune and cut your power usage with only a modest dip in performance.

Funny how they inflate the price way up to $334 for this card and add a $85 coupon.

I just purchased a new MSI RX 6600 for $204 after tax and still within the 30 day return window. Should I go with this 6600xt for $255 after rebate + tax? For my use case (youtube, netflix, knights of the old republic I and II, mass effect 1-3) would it be worth it to save $50? I don't notice any reason not to like the 6600...computer doesn't stutter, graphics on games at ultra/max.

Honestly probably not. The XT version is probably 20-25% faster. At that point you're close enough to $300 with tax that I'd recommend something like a used 3060 Ti which is around 50% faster than what you've got with more stable drivers and DLSS.

GPU prices still high.
And for 1440p/60 gaming often on eBay - 5700 XT $130-140 (after mining of course).

Honestly for your use case it doesn't really matter. The only reason to upgrade is for future proofing but since you already have the 6600, your paying an unnecessary premium for basically the same performance (at 1080p).... If your looking for an upgrade, you should actually step up to a 6700 or better.

using my ebay tool the average sold price for a 5700 XT is $188 by the way after you remove the "sold as parts" listings

average - for whole time from beginning of manufacturing/selling.
I'm talking about selling last weeks.
