Sounds like an incredible deal. How is the quality of the VSTs provided?
Modo Drums & Modo Bass are good, most of the guitar effects are really good but there ARE better options for heavy genres (Gojira & II II II II for extreme metal, TH-U in general is better) For drums you're getting a "good enough for everything but not specialized" kit, same with bass. I would recommend 8Dio Zeus for softer or indie drums and Krihm for extreme metal, but you can get a very good sound from MODO with some effects so it's a moot point, and MODO does have some "heavy metal" kits but they seem aimed less at modern metal and more at like 80's-90's, maybe early 00's.

Mixbox and the Philharmonik are good, LASS/EWQL can probably be got cheaper and I'd not use JUST mixbox (Fabfilter is usually cheap, I love neutron and ozone too)

You do need to factor in a new HDD for this, I really don't think you'd need an SSD but it will help load times

How does Amplitube compare to Bias or Guitar Rig?
Bias > TH-U > Amplitube > Guitar Rig tbh. But specialized stuff is better (II II II II & Gojira) for extreme genres

Does IK's business model kinda suck? Yeah. Do their products suck? Absolutely not. Almost every single product included is worth more than this bundle (2-3x with T-Racks). Hell it costs this much for UA Studer A800 when it's on SALE, and the tape machines included in T-Racks sound just as good and you get a thousand other things on top of it.

Even in the odd case you have to pay to download your sound library again once because you didn't back it up, it's $20. Factor that into the cost and it's still a crazy good deal.

It's been mentioned here but I recommend installing everything (and this goes for all of your sound libraries) on an external hd. They're not expensive. Or use a NAS. The actual software is totally separate from the libraries so it should be pretty easy to keep the software on your main hd and the library on an external drive.

As a matter of principle, would it be better if they didn't charge people for downloading software they paid for? Yes. But you are also getting so much for what you pay for, so I think it's worth the inconvenience.

It's all over the place - it's now showing $99 for me. Now I wish I hadn't just bought it yesterday!

Trying to replicate that one at the moment lol

At this point, I'm almost certain you are seeing a lower price because you own an IK product that cost $79 or more, which grants you upgrade discounts.

Ah well, Going to buy in, not that I ahve an audio production collecting habit or anything

I've tried most of the guitar modelers, and I have to disagree - Amplitube is my favorite for most genres (but I'm not a metal guy). I own most of these plugs already but am probably going to have to buy this just to get the few things I don't have. An unbelievable deal.

Excellent. This is worth it for Amplitube 5 Max alone - the amp & cab sims are very, very good and the included packs & collections are all very useable, and that's just scratching the surface of what's included. If I'm honest there's probably more here than most people will ever use, but all of the bases are covered, from amp and cab sims, room size & type, mic placement (and even mic dynamics) and effects right through to final mastering.

Here's a review of Amplitube 5 by Pete Thorn, but as I say, this is just one small part of what you get here.

I use a helix LT so I don't need another modeler. I also have NI komplete 13 ultimate and ableton live 11 suite. Any other reasons to get this?

I think you've probably got most bases covered already, so it's likely only the mixing & mastering software that would make this worth it for you (each of which would still cost more than this entire package), but obviously only if that's something you'd use anyway.

I want it but no idea if I need it or will ever use it. I already have the whole Magix pre/post production suite, a huge Komplete cross grade suite, and the Reason Suite.

Update. I got it. Just can't let the wife find out.

Ik makes some good stuff but man...as a long term customer I'm pissed how my investment into their software has been devalued. And the 180 day thing is ridiculous in this day and age. I got totalmax 2 on USB to avoid that issue. I assumed it was gone when I got 3.5. Was that 6 months ago...hmm I better go download just in case...

Depends on your situation. The software allows for multiple installs not limited by the 180 days. You could do something like buy a 2tb drive, and just dedicate it to everything in this package, software AND samples. Seeing as I plan to use this over an extended period of time, having the samples downloaded to a separate, movable package makes sense.
You can defend them all you can, it's still a crap business model and example at this age, when cloud and bandwidth are cheap. Just imagine if sony or ms began to charge you when you d/l a game a year later you purchased.

IK Media don't even email you when your last day is approaching.

Yes it's a crap business model. It's also $180 for plugins that would easily add up to thousands of dollars if there even is an equivalent in quality. And it's very easily remedied with a cheap external drive. If you don't want to do that, the charge to redownload something is I think $20.

In all seriousness if you don't want to support them out of principle, more power to you. I think it's great when people take a stand for their values. On a practical level however, if you are looking for even one of these plugins it doesn't make much sense to avoid what is clearly a pretty solid deal out of spite.

Got it through IK website. Thank you. Btw you can reactivate sample downloads via customer service after the 180 days through IK website idk about Thomaa Music.

Reference: IK representative via customer support.

It's $10 bucks to re-activate the download after 180 days.

I have a bunch of IK stuff from before, so this deal isn't for me, but I have all of the software backed up on spinner drives in case I ever need to re-install for whatever reason.

And if I didn't have the backups, then $10 is not the end of the world for me.
