Have they added updates to fix the fingerprint unlock issue, apparently anyone's finger could pretty much unlock the phone initially. I think they released some updates, but not sure if it's fully fixed or not.

Yes, the fingerprint reader was a mess and we disabled it for my wife. I can't comment on recent updates because we never reactivated that feature. I will say that this thing is so speedy. Great haptic feedback, good battery, capable camera, and just a really nice device overall. Perfect for my wife's needs. Honestly, it feels faster than my pixel 7.

I've had the 6a since its release. The fingerprint sensor was inconsistent at the start, but it's been rock solid for me for several months now. I almost traded it in for an S23, but in my limited experience, the S23's sensor was actually more inconsistent than my 6a's. (Not sure if it matters, but I'm not using a screen protector).
Didn't this have a camera from Pixel 2? That might be my only gripe
I have this phone and the camera is very good. Besides the nice image quality, there are tons of tools and utilities. Now, to be sure, I am a "cheap" phone guy and this is a cheap phone. But at this price range, the camera impresses. It's solid in low light and snaps pretty quickly. My old Moto G7 power would take FOREVER to take a picture sometimes. I missed many good shots due to that shudder speed.

Since you'll have been using the phone for a while - How is the battery life on this Pixel 6a?

not sure if this is a deal unless P6A is better than P7?

Where can you get the P7 for $289?

The argument could be made that it's better, in some ways. But P6a is definitely a cheaper phone MSRP wise.
