As far as the system goes though...it's pretty snappy. Ran Days Gone at 60fps on high with very few drops. Screen isn't horrible and the temps were both under 80 the whole time.
Just a hunch.

Edit. Also, no thunderbolt, and 3.1 vs 3.2 ports. If none of that is your thing, and you only do very light gaming, then maybe this is a better, deal, otherwise, these are worth 100 more

36%-39% better for $100 is an amazing deal.
I play some 3D adventure games from recent years, but I won't use this machine to play the LATEST swankiest AAA titles.
Is this a good solution for my scenario?
Can I remove the battery (to preserve it) and run it straight off AC/DC power cord?

Would appreciate the link too

Of course it does lol gaming destroys battery. Nobody should be gaming when not plugged in 🤣
I know Brickseek draws the ire of many but I took a shot at this about a month or so ago at a local Walmart and they had one left that I picked up. Very YMMV, but if you are willing to drive around (I have three Walmarts in my immediate area, the first two I went to were OOS and the 3rd one which is 6 miles away from my house ended up having it) and have the nerve, you can score Walmart clearance items like this for very cheap.
Another thing I found while at my closest Walmart a little time later: a 144hz 24" 1080p LG monitor I ended up pairing with the same laptop for $30:
