Average everything except for decent range, but for $75 a good pickup for internet speeds under 1gig. Linksys is not good at anything anymore but switches, their other products are never worth their MSRP and are average at best in just about every category.

I own this router. It's ok. Picked mine up for $100 and then bought a couple $40 MR7350 child nodes to make a mesh on three stories. Haven't had any issues with it and everything works.

Basically, if your download speed doesn't match what your ISP sells you, assuming the modem is capable, then you should upgrade your router.

No. They are connected wireless. Parent on the main floor and child on upstairs and downstairs.

Every time I've ever used a Linkys wireless router, it has been utter garbage. I remember buying a combo with router+modem+AP for sale. I ended up just using the modem out of all 3 and even that would crash twice a month 🙃. Dummy switches are the only thing I've seen be reliable from them.

I am currently running the Linksys mesh (VELOP) Wifi 5 but Tri-Band. No issues and speeds seem just fine.

I'm trying to weigh if it's worth the upgrade to WiFi 6 for future proofing. Any thoughts?

I have the Hydra version of this after having this one. I still have this one. When I get around to it, I'll use this one as a child node (wired backhaul) in a room with a bunch of devices that I'd like to wire.

Depends if your ISP speed is fast enough to need it. Range is going to be the same, just faster speeds on 6band vs 5band. WiFi 7 is around the corner but more expensive. If your current setup is working fine, then no need to upgrade.

I have your exact setup with a gig internet and have no issues with speeds (fast enough for my needs and # of devices) so I don't plan on upgrading.

I'm still rocking a 10-year-old Netgear 6250 (AC1600), which has been fine. Every times I look to upgrade, I get so overwhelmed by options that don't even seem like options and acronyms that I don't get, I close my browser and keep what I've got. How does one even shop for routers anymore?

My important machines are wired (3 cables to individual PCs, then a 4th to an unmanaged switch for the home theater stuff), and I live in a NYC apartment with thick walls and 20 other WiFi networks visible. Any suggestions to get on more modern tech?
