I like (free) money.
Also, Merrill lynch does count towards preferred Rewards.
And it's 1% on everything, uncapped.
2% on. Grocery stores and wholesale, bjs Costco
3% on the category of you choose with 2500 spend cap then 1%
Like other members stated, this card can be best option for c.c period if you have platinum honors (100k total deposits between bofa and Merrill).

There might be some slightly better options for travel enthusiasts with the Capital One Venture X, Sapphire Preferred, or AMEX Gold/Plat, but I don't really travel so for sheer cashback, this card is king.
5.25% with platinum honors. I use it with my Amazon FBA business since I do a bit of retail arbitrage. Just applied and was approved for my 5th BOA Cash Rewards card. It's my go to.
I have a citi mc now and I get the 3% on grocery stores / lowes/ travel but online bills are 1% which is kind of a drag since that is $500ish a month guaranteed.

Citi custom cash card looks interesting to possibly pick up the slack on what BofA card doesn't cover: 5% eligible categories: Restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, select travel, select transit, select streaming services, drugstores, home improvement stores, fitness clubs, live entertainment. It looks like it will automatically pick the category you spend the most in, but I have a sneaking suspicion you may not be able to pull cash out until you hit 10k points ($100)? Whereas BofA lets you get any amount of cash back. Also capped at $500/month in category spending, BofA customized cash is $2500/quarter.
