FYI: Although the "2023 Line On Us P6" should only apply to people on the Magenta Max plan with no preexisting free lines, their system is allowing many people with existing free lines on Max to get the promo.

I added the line by myself on their website and activated an eSim. I also received the promo text message.

Did you opt for a physical sim to be shipped? If you did, then you'll see the promo only after you receive the physical sim and insert it into a phone.

my s23+ has a physical sim with my number but it also has an esim option. SO does that mean I can try to add line, esim option and actviate it as a 2nd line on my s23+?
also everything you did, was it AFTER they told you, your account was not eligible?

Yes, you can activate the esim on S23+ as it allows two active SIM, one physical and other esim
I just had a chat via App, and I was informed that I can add the new free line. I have Max, and had added the Dec Free line, and still eligible for the new free line.
I went ahead with the new line, opted for a physical sim. So will have to wait overnight to see the new number and the promotion show up in my account.
Edit: I had requested to waive the device connection fee, which the Rep could not, but gave me the credit, which already shows in the billing

Another data point, I didn't even bother contacting any chat support, I went directly to the website to add a line. I got the 2023 Line On Us P6 after activating an eSim. That's my 3rd free line (one back in December 2022 after I switched to Magenta to be able to add more lines, and one back in 2018 when I signed up for T-Mobile)
