Sorry I did miss type, $770 is correct. Seen it go down to that 2-3 times. In my opinion it is well worth the $90 for the newer model.
I definitely agree that it's worth getting at least 256GB of storage, though I'm not as convinced by the hover feature and the incremental improvement of the M2 processor. I kind of wish Apple had added a higher end gyroscopic sensor to make the LiDAR more effective for captures of architecture and landscaping. Apparently, the only way to really use LiDAR for large captures is an iPhone on a gimbal stabilizer.
Wow. I guess things have turned for the worse for this company? I ordered a number of computers (MacBook Pro, Sony Vaio) in the late 2000s from them and no problem whatsoever - great prices, new in sealed box, perfect transactions. But alas that close to 15 years ago!
There will be tons of IPAD deals this year. Maybe more by Mothers/Fathers Day. I would not buy anything like this from just a vendor online like that. No way. Strictly from known retailers.
That's too bad, since I'd been waiting for a discount on this model after I missed the ones in December. I hope I end up lucky and nothing goes wrong.
If you actually read the reviews from the BBB website, the people complaining are because of issues they had returning the item after they didn't want it, no one complained about having an issue with the item itself.
Personally, I have no problem with a company trying as much as possible not to have to deal with returns. They are costly, and people abuse the process right and left. I read people here on SD who talk about buying 10 laptops, trying them all, and then returning 9 of them. I don't know why these companies allow people to return like this.

Nothing to do with this deal, but I agree, people have become way to liberal with their returns these days. I stopped selling on eBay years ago, because eBay started siding with buyers in selling disputes 99% of the time. I'm honestly surprised eBay is still a viable conduit for casual sellers given their high seller fees, the high shipping costs and little to no recourse in any type of dispute.
I was selling refurbished dell laptops on eBay about 10yrs ago, when 2 days after I had shipped a $800 laptop from the east coast to the west coast, the buyer asked "do I offer a student discount", I replied "no, I'm not a corporation, I just buy and resell these Dell laptops to supplement my income. He said, "well I don't want it then". I said "that's fine if you don't want it, but I already shipped it to you, and there's a 10% restocking fee which was clearly stated in the listing to cover my free shipping cost, and basically pay for my time to list and deal with all these ridiculous emails. Long story short, I sent EBay customer dispute service all the email exchanges I had with this guy, my listing clearly stated a 10% restocking fee, but none of that mattered. eBay immediately sided with him, froze the PayPal transaction, and gave him a full refund before I even received the return.
Luckily the buyer was somewhat honest, and actually sent the laptop back, but he could've just as easily sent me a box of bricks, and I don't think eBay would've done a thing to make it right. That was the last time I ever sold a big ticket item on eBay. I guess what I'm saying is, it's really tough for the little guys to compete in the low margin reselling game, when people just return items for reasons such as "you don't offer a student discount".

Agreed, and furthermore, we're talking about an authorized Apple seller here. The fact that they only have 3 reports on BBB in the past 3 years, regardless of the issue, is a good track record. The fact that people are complaining on BBB about not being able to return a product they didn't want to actually purchase is laughable and should be ignored.

128gb has always been more than enough IME and I own two of these, an iPad Air, and a 9th gen base iPad.
NVME enclosures let you have as much storage as you'd ever need for doing actual work off of one. The best deals are always on base models.
