This is as cheap, at least as I've at least ever seen, these Japanese made Okatsune garden shears sold on Amazon (or anywhere else for that matter).
- Thinning shears / snips
- Total length: 193 mm
- Blade length: 45 mm
- Blade thickness: 2.3 mm
- Weight: 118 gr
- Blade hardness: 59 – 60 HRD (Rockwell Hardness C-scale)
- Izumo Yasugi steel
The Okatsune 306 are professional thinning shears with rounded tip specially designed for cutting very soft stems. The extremely thin blades (2.3 mm) of these shears are the most delicate of all Okatsune thinning shears. The round tip prevents damage to fruit, flowers, and hands. The shears are also suitable for cuttings, thinning, and cutting of rope, and paper. The Okatsune 306 is not suitable for cutting hard (woody) stems. For this you can should use the Okatsune 307.
The blades of these Japanese thinning shears (Mekiri Basami) are uniquely forged from the finest IZUMO YASUGI steel, and have a very high Rockwell hardness of 59 to 60. Therefore, the blades stay sharp for a long time and they consistently give a clean and precise cut in the wood, without giving much effort. Furthermore, Okatsune combines the hardness with a special flexibility, so that the cutting blade always aligns with the counter blade.

A penny saved is a penny earned. In this case, 71 pennies.

How does this compare to the fiskars microtip?
For bypass pruners, this brand or felco?

That's three words.

It's been really hard, as of late, to get a good deal on the Felcos, but search older posts on SD for the ARS pruners. I believe I've posted the ARS pruners for prices in the mid 30's in the past. Don't recall those posts getting much interest, though.

Cool profession. I bet you have the best yard on the block. I have a pair like these that I use to trim extra foliage on rose stems before putting in vases.
I was responding to that question...
