My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

existing customer here. Spoke to CS and downgraded my 400mbps to 200mbps for $25/month. There is no data cap and the rate is locked down for 2 years with 1 year on contract. Not so worried about the contract as i dont have any other option in my area apart from xfiniity. Was Paying $40 for 400mbps and this looks like a good savings despite the speed cut.
For your 400mbps, were you on an existing contract or were you out of contract?

I'm currently on a 200mbps contract at $40/month for 2 years, I don't see this deal since it's the same speed as my current plan. I'm wondering if I could downgrade and then upgrade back to 200mbps if this deal appears.

This is a pretty average price. We pay $70 after tax for 1200 mbps with unlimited data and Xfinity rental included 24 months no contract.

days of haggling over the phone for better pricing has been long gone for years now, theres a retention department but if youre already on a promotion their system won't allow it.
Exactly. Customer loyalty means jack shit to corporations. The only thing that matters is their quarterly report.

Glad I saw this today. I was on 19.99 for 75Mbps and my rate was gonna jump to 45 next month. Switched today. It was a hassle jumping through reps. But worth it.

Thanks for this. So what are the steps to do ahead of time such that this goes smoother?
I'd start by doing the chat on mobile -- so that when your Internet goes down, you can still talk to the customer service rep. Also have the Xfinity app on your phone. Or use your laptop with the phone as a hotspot.

Go into chat, ask for loyalty -- if that doesn't work with the automation, then tell the first person you talk to that you want loyalty department.

Tell the loyalty department that you want the deal and that you'll go to Verizon Internet if they can't do the deal.

Make sure you have the MAC address for your router. If you use theirs, you might not need this, not sure.

Ask if they can cancel and then resubscribe you for the lower price. Then when they disconnect your Internet, wait until you get a text saying you need to authorize the new service. Click the link.

Once that's done is when my modem was deregistered and going to any website resulted in the Xfinity splash page. Go into the app and look for "authorize device" - it was on the bottom for me. Go through the steps - reboot router, etc - and then type in the MAC address when asked.

About 5 minutes later, it'll reboot and you'll be in business. Check your email for confirmation and you should be good.

That's the streamlined version of what I did - only it took an hour to get through my own troubleshooting to get to that point.

I thought they go by household? So I can cancel my internet and same day my wife can call activate internet on her name? That doesn't seem right
They literally cancelled MY service and resubscribed me with the deal, so I don't see why not... Or just ask them if they can do that for you.

Could've been because I was being nice to the rep (it's not their fault they have dumb policies) and I also mentioned the $25/mo Verizon Home Internet deal.

what modem/router are people getting with their 200Mbps plan? I got the XB3 modem. Is that right?
Buy your own. Xfinity is mining data and expanding their network with leased equipment YOU pay for

Did your new service start right away?
Not sure yet, its been a few hours and I still have internet. I'll update if anything changes, I wouldnt be surprised if they just migrate my modem MAC address over too since the login info and everything else was the same, only account number is different. I'm ready to trade a few hours of no internet for a few hundred dollars of savings over the mext 24 months.

The last time I changed promotions, I waited til my cable box arrived in the mail, unplugged my owned modem and router. I then brought my OLD cable box to an Xfinity store and closed the account. Went home and called to set up new account and was up in 5 minutes.

i have xfinity 400 mbps for $35 right now and would like this deal. they gave me a free upgrade from 200 to 400 a while ago. i haven't really noticed a difference and wouldn't mind saving $10/month

when i log in and click on change services, switching to 200 mbps would cost me even more lol. is cancelling and signing up the only way to get this deal?
