Don't get a digital version. Wait and save money and get the disc version.
Anecdotally, but a real life friend as well as plenty of online statements seem to suggest most people regret buying the digital version. And that, is before you even read from Slick Dealers sad they can't participate in disc deals. Always groveling at Sony's teet for some PS Online sale that's much crappier than a Game Stop B2G1 Big Grin

What if you already have the disc version but want a ps5 in another room just for psvr2?
Doesn't change the fact discs are almost always on sale more than digital versions. I have definitely saved more buying discs on sale than buying digital on sale.

That's why I have two disc versions Big Grin

I can't believe they are already talking about a Pro version. Because of supply chain and lack of PS5 quality games... it seems way too soon for that.

It baffles me that you can't buy a digital version and use a $20 external Blu-Ray drive,

It'll have been 3 years when it comes out, so that' sounds about right...nearly halfway through the lifecycle of 7 years. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are still the best values for console gaming; most games are still being made for them and you have cloud gaming.

I can't wait until I can afford one. I've got to buy a 4K TV with it so it's a big purchase for me. I work full time but only make 10 bucks an hour…
bruh you got other issues to worry about if you only make 10 bucks an hour...

You shouldn't be thinking buying a PS5

You don't need a TV. Just get a radio.

Without knowing much other information, I hope that person gets what they want, if that's what they're saving for. If you're going to be poor you might as well be able to enjoy your life. Could have been like me a decade ago and just slapped it all on a CC even though I was making $14/hr...
$10 an hour now is not even close to $14 a decade ago, people are in some real trouble right now, encouraging poor decision... Shame on you.

This digital edition will most likely not be compatible with the detachable disc drive rumored to be coming soon.

Nope, shame on you, as again, we have zero idea who this person is AND don't even know if this is a real post. IF it was a real post, it's discouraging to be poor and never be able to save for items of value. Why can't this person set a goal for earning this?

I didn't even think I'd entertain this post for more than seconds....but doing basic math....

Let's assume they're working full time at that $10. $10 x 2080 (full time hours in a year) = $20,800. Now, don't know their state so I can't anticipate state taxes, but just for fun we'll take out $5k of that and hope they're under 26 and their parents have them on their benefits (or receive subsidized).

$15k spread out over 12 months in a low cost of living area with a roommate/partner/living at home situation could allow someone to save up the less than $1k to get this + a cheap 4K TV. Shoot, we're on SLICKDEALS....I'm sure they can easily stumble into a $200 one with ease. So, $400 + $200 + appropriate taxes got this person needing to save $675-700 this year to be able to enjoy themselves out of a net of $15k.

We also don't know how much they already have saved up! We're just chatting to be chatting....BUT more importantly to go back to my original stance poor/disenfranchised people shouldn't always be disallowed to have fun themselves. They too should be able to have a fancy phone, or good shoes, or in this case a PS5 if they're setting goals. I commend this person - real or fake - for making a goal. Like I implied, I'd not done so a decade ago and been in debt.

Your post is all but shaming this person, which is shameful.

I 100% agree with the disc version. I bought both my kids and myself the disc version (3 total). We are able to find disc games on sale all the time. Plus with the disc, you do not need to worry about them pulling the digital version due to licensing or whatnot.

Unless you absolutely must have ps exclusive games, getting a mid end pc is much cheaper in the long run

Between epic free weekly games and Xbox game pass pc (via conversion deal), I have way more games than my free time allows
