Was about to post this myself. I'm looking into building a NAS and noticed that the price on these seemed relatively low. CCC shows this as the lowest price (before the coupon added) and the average is $173.81

For about another $40 the Seagate Exos is available, that is their enterprise level drive. Made for higher sustained read/write speeds and built to last longer although it is a little noisier.
—-Exos 7E8 drives have a 2 million hour MTBF rating and a 0.44% reliability rating at full 24x7 operation (AFR). They also support workloads of up to 550TB a year and have a 5-year warranty.

The 12TB model is $189.99
Just a little more cost per TB
(This 8TB deal = $15 per TB, the 12TB = $15.84 per TB)
Same link, just choose the 12TB

Comparatively speaking 7200 RPM drives are going to be louder than ~5k ish drives because of the platter speed and faster actuation. Seagate drives in general have never been whisper quiet, so YMMV. I personally think Hitachi (WD) DC are quieter but not noticably as I have Hitachi, Seagate, and WD in my array.
