I did not hold the line. In for 1!
Rt is a gimmick. Nothing is mire important than framerate
The problem with that argument is that for the equivalent level/price 30 series card RT will hammer your system into the ground unless you play with everything else on potato settings.

High level graphics, ray tracing, affordable cost, pick 2

High level graphics + affordable.

Ray tracing is not worth it IMO

Still significantly over priced, but I could live with it if Ihad to have a card rightnow. The 6800/3070 cards are probably not going any lower until the 7800 and 4070 come out, if then. It seems AMD/NVIDIA have no interest in helping retailers out getting rid of stock, and retailers have no interest in taking losses to get rid of stock.
it's not "significantly" overpriced. The 3070ti is "significantly overpriced"

Yeah, I can't agree with this.

I want games to look good, that's the most important thing to me, if a game looks really good at 80fps versus mediocre at 200fps, I'll take the good looking game every time. Now that's the great thing about games, you can often customize them to fit YOUR needs. If playing at 300fps is important to you then turn settings down to potato and you're good to go, me I didn't buy a monitor larger than 1080 resolution because frame rates was my #1 goal.
You're a console player..
frame rate is above everything on pc

I am currently running a 4090. I appreciate the extra image quality that RT provides in the right games. However, even with the 4090 paired with a 13900k, most games just cannot manage to be great experiences at 4K ultra with RT ultra/psycho. You have to fall back to using DLSS quality to get 60fps consistent and DLSS Balanced to hit closer to 80.
In reality, the gaming experience of playing at a framerate of 60 or 80 vs 120fps is night and day. I will give up some quality to achieve the higher framerate to get a more natural gaming experience.

I can tell you, playing a game like Cyberpunk at 4k and 30fps vs 4k at 120fps, you will realize the static image quality at 30 is great but the immersion of 120 is just so much better.

Having said that, 4k gaming at high frames is still not possible for even the best of systems with RT enabled. Given that, I am building my nephew a gaming pc with this card since the comparably priced Nvidia RT enabled cards are significantly slower at raw rasterization performance.

I honestly haven't had a console since the PS2, so try again.

In fact both of you are acting like former console players that now have your first computers, enjoy your motion blur, and your render distance settings set to 10 feet away so you can max out those precious FPS numbers on a game. I'd rather play a gamewhere I can be immersed in a world where I can see tree foliage, shadows, and to tell if that green stuff on the ground is grass, moss, or lichen.

Now you can have your precious FPS and turn off all the textures and extra settings to none, and then understand (and maybe talk like a true PC player) the greatest thing about PC games is you can often customize what's important to you.

The 6800xt is the card to get. But it should be $400 or less. Remember, the new RDNA 3 cards are coming.

I'm looking to upgrade later this year. Hopefully, it's that price by then, lol

Last time I held the line, I missed the $900 3090 deal. Now it's nowhere near $1000 anymore.

A last gen tier 2 card GPU for a #2 in server gamer.

Just kidding of course but why would any one waste money on last gen stuff during a glut.

Resale value aside, for those who can wait a few months and if we don't get EMP'ed by Russian hypersonics will be the fps kings.
Definitely, if people are not in complete need of a card, wait until Summer. The RTX 4070 (non-Ti) is due April 13th. That is rumored to cost $750 and be about 15-20% slower than the RTX 4070Ti. The RTX 4060 is rumored to be not much faster than the last gen RTX 3060's. The RX 7800 and RX 7700 desktop cards are supposed to release June 2023. Still all rumor.

But, anyone wanting to get the max fps performance, honestly they can do that now. Nothing left that is getting released in 2023 will beat a 4090,4080 or RX 7900XTX. Unless we see a 4090Ti / 4090 Titan or a RX 7950/RX 7990 XTX, the FPS Kings have already been crowned for this generation.

Still the RX 6800's are interesting. I think the 16GB frame buffer will allow it to hold up better than any of the current gen 8GB cards that are coming. The 250w board power is reasonable and will not force most people to need to buy a new power supply. Also, AMD has delivered some significant driver performance improvements for RDNA2 over the last few months, which is nice to see. Anyone shopping in the mid-tier, its all about price vs. performance and longevity. I would like to see this card closer to $400.
