I did not hold the line. In for 1!
Rt is a gimmick. Nothing is mire important than framerate
The problem with that argument is that for the equivalent level/price 30 series card RT will hammer your system into the ground unless you play with everything else on potato settings.

High level graphics, ray tracing, affordable cost, pick 2

I like the 6800 for performance relative to power draw. I use mine with a 650W psu. Undervolted and overclocked it works great and uses 180 watts while gaming.

Well if you're willing to plunk down that much for graphics card then you should have a decent enough ray tracing experience, might get a bit bogged down if you're doing 4k ultra settings with all the shiny cool stuff out there but it won't be hammed as much as say a 3070 card which was the point I was going for.

Now will ray tracing be just a gimmick for games now and disappear in a few years? Well unfortunately I level my crystal ball in my pants which are now at the cleaners so can't help there Smilie

6800 ia a 1440p monster. I grabbed a reference model a while back and def am set for a few years. RT doesn't matter to me. I think these cards will be great value for years to come.

Yeah, I can't agree with this.

I want games to look good, that's the most important thing to me, if a game looks really good at 80fps versus mediocre at 200fps, I'll take the good looking game every time. Now that's the great thing about games, you can often customize them to fit YOUR needs. If playing at 300fps is important to you then turn settings down to potato and you're good to go, me I didn't buy a monitor larger than 1080 resolution because frame rates was my #1 goal.

Hah!
Thing is that RT has been around for a quite a few years. I still don't see a really overwhelmingly compelling game for it. Cyberpunk was supposed to be it, but you know how that went.

For example, Witcher III was overwhelmingly compelling for a high end card. But since then?

I guess this question is more for the people who already have RT. Has the experience been life changing for you?

Still significantly over priced, but I could live with it if Ihad to have a card rightnow. The 6800/3070 cards are probably not going any lower until the 7800 and 4070 come out, if then. It seems AMD/NVIDIA have no interest in helping retailers out getting rid of stock, and retailers have no interest in taking losses to get rid of stock.

I got a 6800xt at Xmas for $500. It's a great card for my needs. Handles everything I throw at it on my current setup. Mind you I'm not trying to 4k ultra everything and I don't play much on my PC ATM. But Callisto protocol looks amazing and runs great.

Great Card! Plays everything that I throw at it in 4k. However I got my 6800 for $225 on Ebay during the mining panic.

The 6800xt is the card to get. But it should be $400 or less. Remember, the new RDNA 3 cards are coming.

get 6800 XT for 4K/60 gaming, non-XT close to, but not the same.
PC parts prices at spring/summer 2023 drops slowly and looks as at autumn will be economic recession, so, I suppose, gaming GPU at the end of 2023 will drops more. Especially AMD.

Nvidia just had to price the 4070 ti at $600 to get the whole market.

All this looks really good actually. This should perform like a RTX 3070/ 3070 Ti, even in RT. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/pr...pr/1532184

RTX 3070's are still going for over $600 new retail. The RTX 4070 (non-Ti) is rumored to have an MSRP at $750 next month.

The RX 6800 also have a TBP around 250w, which is roughly the same as the RX 6750 XT.

I don't think the RX 7800 is scheduled to release until June. So, I think there will be more downward price movement, but not until then.
A last gen tier 2 card GPU for a #2 in server gamer.

Just kidding of course but why would any one waste money on last gen stuff during a glut.

Resale value aside, for those who can wait a few months and if we don't get EMP'ed by Russian hypersonics will be the fps kings.
