I'm just trying to help, and I don't know your exact situation, but here is some info that might be helpful:

Its possible to use international eSIM services like Airalo, which I've found to be inexpensive and reliable for international travel.

Depending on your needs, you can use Airalo in the 2nd eSIM slot of your iPhone. Then If you set your iPhone to only use data from that 2nd eSIM, you can get incoming calls on your primary US number, using the data stream from the 2nd eSIM for the call.

This setup will actually be WiFi calling, not airtime calling. On some US phone plans, this won't trigger international call charges.

Again, I don't know your exact situation, but there could be some possibilities for you with this route. Anyhow, I hope this helps someone out there who only has a dual eSIM phone…

Again, just trying to help…

EDIT:
If you want to know exactly how to do this, let me know and I'll post it a bit later once I'm at my computer where I have that exact "how to" info saved…

1 - Turn ON wifi calling on SIM1
2 - Turn OFF data roaming on SIM1
3 - Set SIM1 as your primary voice
4 - Set SIM2 as your primary data source
5 - Disable the cellular switching

Whenever not on wifi, this setup will piggy back off SIM2 cellular connection as WiFi calling. This also works on iPhone 13 Pro Max using physical / eSIMs

Apple Support mentions DUAL SIM usage here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044

Scroll down to "Learn about Dual SIM status icons"

I hope this help!

Mint 100% supports eSIM. I've been using a 14 on Mint since release.

Yes, specially if you can get refund for the Apple Care+

Think I will just buy it and try to get refund for AppleCare. If no go then I will return it back to Costco. Without opening the package will I be able to get the AppleCare agreement number and serial number?
Quote from f1.suresh :
For those who are looking for a refund on Apple plus care from Apple, it's a good news that Apple will be able to refund you back. If you are planning to cancel after 30 days, the refund is prorated based on the usage. However, if you are planning to get a refund before 30 days, Apple support will revert you back to costco.com.
Not according to the previous thread here on slickdeals from 2022. Roughly half of those that attempted return of applecare over phone with apple were told they can't return it because it was part of a bundle , and it has to go back to Costco directly. Others were told by Apple that "we can cancel the applecare in our system, but we can't refund you. Costco would get the money back and you'd have to take it up with them." Still others were told Apple can't cancel the plan within the first 14 days. Finally, others were told Apple can't cancel the plan until 30 days. Some small number of people reported getting a pro-rated refund. NOBODY reported getting a full refund (edited to add: "of the applecare plan")

Wow sales of this model must be bad. The iPhone 14 pro 256 is 170 more expensive during this deal.
If that was 1k, I'd be all over that.

I ordered 5 of these for using them overseas where esim is available but I am not sure whether I can get full refund for the all Apple care plus plans and what happened when Apple care plus plan expires?

This is actually kind of funny - I'm sitting here in Munich at the Hofbräuhaus Biergarten reading this. Not knowing how to deal with the esim situation I also stumbled upon Airalo. Way cheaper than Verizon and works perfect! Definitely prefer this over the old school SIM card methods.
So lucky!! Hofbrauhaus is the best of the best!!

This is probably true. I just called apple care support just to see how they respond. They said - for everything related to cancellations and refunds, work with costco.

I am looking for a new13 pro max and it is out-stocks everywhere. Physical SIM card is a must for me as constantly travel to countries do not support esim.

Is it worth upgrading from my iPhone 12 pro max 512 to this? Battery life, camera, SOS feature and crash detection are upgrades on the newer model, but then the hassle of having to sell mine via the Internet has me hesitating
No it is not worth it IMO. I own both and would be perfectly happy with just the 12.

Same. I go to Spain for a couple of months every summer and use a local sim. They're pretty strict over there about cellular and generally esim is only offered to contracts. Guess I'll be stuck on iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I spend a lot of time in the EU and some countries definitely make it easier than others.

For example, in Poland, the popular service provider "Orange" has an app that you can download and for a few bucks, you can buy a prepaid esim plan and get a local number and data within a few minutes.

The first time I used it I even found a promo code that let me get my first month on any "plan" for only 1 PLN, which is like 20 cents USD. I just selected the plan, checked out via PayPal, and a few seconds later the esim was installed and ready to go. Shame it's not like that everywhere tbh.

In Spain, one option you would have is also via Orange, but you would first need to have a physical Orange sim, then request an esim and pay a one time €5 fee. The only catch is it has to be done in store.

You could probably take care of that in one shot if you went to an Orange shop, asked for the €15 prepaid rate, then asked to have the physical sim swapped for an esim. Their website says this process works for any customer, including prepaid.

Since you're only using it for 2 months out of the year, I'd imagine you'd probably lose the number after some period of inactivity and you'd have to repeat the process every time you go there.

For now, I'm still holding on to my 12 pro plus an S22 Ultra, which also works great as a dual sim phone. I travel around too much to lock myself into esim only until it becomes more accessible.

I also need physical sim for international travel and some countries still don't support esim. I hope 15 will go back to dual esim and sim card
Orange has a traveler's Esim prepaid service; it is pretty reasonable for 20GB over 14 days (which covers most people's vacations). Is Orange bad?
