As someone who hasn't built a PC in a long time, is this a good deal? Last time I got a PSU was nearly a decade ago at microcenter. Went with their off brand 750w PS which was only like $65. These modular ones seem awesome, just not sure what's a steal when it comes to these

I'm still using a high-end Corsair PSU that I bought 12 years ago and is still going strong. Just an absolute tank of a unit. So I haven't researched PSUs in quite a while.

Having said that, considering this is ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 ready (which I believe comes in the form of a 12+4 pin cable that next-gen cards will utilize, saving you from having to use potentially several of the traditional 6+2 pin cables), I think it's a good price, but I wouldn't say it's a "steal." You have to expect to pay a premium whenever new standards are starting to emerge.

Unrelated, but I'm considering a new build and am thinking about going big for a change with a Ryzen 9 and 7900XT, and wow…I don't think 850w is gonna cut it.

I purchased the Ruben 9 7900xt, Asus B650E-F and 32M of ram bundle for $549. I went with the Corsair 1000W PSU
