A solid, if not great game, IMO. It felt like "A Link to the Past with vampires" when it came out, and 15 years later, I still feel about the same.

Where it excelled was in laying the groundwork with its rich world and characters for its much-improved sequels.
VAE VICTUS! Gosh this game was mindblowing when it first came out. Everything about it was fantastic. Story, combat, interesting systems.

I haven't played it in a long time, so it's probably kind of dated. Def worth a buck though!
Yup. Soul Reaver is like the T2 movie to this Kane game, which is like Terminator

Has anyone from the Soul Reaver community pestered you yet to see if you have any un-dumped alpha builds to contribute to https://thelostworlds.net/ collection? I think fans are still holding out hope that there might be one floating out there with The Mountain Retreat/Kain's Throne Room that was seen in a few magazine screenshots with textures. Last I checked, all of the known alphas are untextured, and the area was dummied out by the time of the beta.

EDIT: My last memory of it was this video [youtube.com]. I dunno if the community has made any other big findings since then.

Honestly, I never even knew how much of a following this game series has had all these years. Back home somewhere in storage I probably have hundreds of fully playable burns along with a couple of the original PS development stations. Not only Kain, but other games as well. To this day I've still yet to see or hear about so many secret/hidden rooms and levels we put into Akuji, Gex, Unholy Wars, etc. Just typing this brings back some memories. When I moved over to Eidos and was working in the Tomb Raider franchise, good times. I left the industry as a whole over a decade ago, never looking back. Been living in other countries for years. If ever I get back to the states, I might have to dig into my storage bins and upload some of those treasures to the net.

By all means, please! It's been pretty awesome watching the progress of the alpha builds that have been collected over the years. The community is able to see, "Ah, between this alpha build and this build, this area got added, this one got reworked, this build finally adds Turel the boss." We know that there was a hard deadline where presumably Eidos/Crystal Dynamics made the decision that the game was never gonna be finished on time unless they chopped a bunch of stuff, so between Alpha XX and Beta 1, suddenly a huge amount of stuff has been removed or dummied out. Essentially, the "holy grail" from the Soul Reaver community's perspective would be finding the last alpha that was built before half the game got the cleaver. That would give us the closest-to-completion versions that we might ever see of all of those cut areas and bosses.

Not to downplay any of the other games you worked on, BTW! The LoK/Soul Reaver series just has a particularly passionate community, I think in part because of what an amazing achievement it was.
