Alright in for one. I've been looking at this on and off for awhile. I don't gig, just pretend in my basement so 5w is plenty. Thanks for posting.

Also, the 15W has the 1W switch as well. The 5W is a good little amp if that's all you need but doesn't have the extra tone knobs and reverb that the 15W has. In hindsight, I'd have gone straight to the 15 Watter if I'd have known how great all of these Stage Right tube amps sound.

This is a very basic amp. If you know you want it for some specific reason, then this is a good price. But most people would be better served by getting monoprice's 15w tube amp. Whenever it might go on sale appropriately.

If you're willing to spend a little more, I recently picked up a 40w Spark Positive Grid practice amp for about $250 (with a free gig bag) that has crazy bells and whistles I didn't even know existed. It works as a bass or guitar amp, can model all kinds of different guitars, amps, and effects pedals, and can pull up YouTube play along videos and generate the chord patterns. I'm just getting back into guitar after years of not playing and it legit blew my mind that an amp (plus app) can do so much these days. Oh, and it also doubles as a very nice Bluetooth speaker.

And don't complain about size and weight. The 15W is an amazing 25lb. Perfect. All in one portable combo, fitting any vehicle. Almost any person can carry it.

Hilarious. You're the one who keeps telling people they shouldn't care about the size and weight of this thing when that's the entire point of a compact amp.

The lack of fx loop kills this for me, but I'm tempted lol. Definitely going to bite on the 15 watt next time it pops up.

If you mean this Fender Front man 20W. This amp sounds better. Note this requires more maintenance as you need to replace the two vacuum tubes when they go bad. It happens randomly like light bulbs, so they can die after a few hours to years later on.

Thanks for the info!

Don't like it; for savings. Only about $100 more on sale gets your the MP 15W. Then the 12" midrange Celestion speaker really matters, it can go mouse quiet to full stage and against rock drums without house PA even. So universal and like the guy with one gun and knows how to use it. AKA practice on same as perform.

Also has very good mid level reverb, by real spring tank.

And and EQ thank you. As this is one rare all tube amp able to get more tones than many.

And great effects loop connections to easily add whatever else you need Separately. For under $40 optional a Cube Baby adds USB digital out (yes you can connect it so the tube PRE amp character goes to USB through the Baby and so to DAW recorded.) And a long list of so many digital effects, too many different amp tones and fine cab IR tones mixable with analog or each). Besides a looper (which should be separate) then what can't you match with that?

And you can add anything you want like old pedals, but most are matchable by simply turning knobs. On the 15W MP or the Cube Baby in manual mode. But it has easy presets, tuner, noise cut, no multi wire battery built in, changes with cell phone chargers and last about 2 weeks or more. If you forget to charge it at your jam location then any standard phone charger will do it in a few short minutes. It has cell phone cables etc, even if you wanted to record on your (newer) phone with your DAW.
Speaking of the Cube Baby, I ordered one last month but returned it. Any drive and it got extremely noisy. Maybe I got a dud?

Prolly so. Sorry. I just got finished playing mine. I have fun making the amp do various tones like the Cube Baby can do, and I just set the 15W amp to clean, pedal ready to get the Cube Baby to do tones the 15W can do. An audience would not know the different and the song list I could play is high.

It's cool because both have just a little something the other doesn't. AND they COMBINE too.

Always check return policy and buyer feedback just in case you get a damaged products. It happens. It sucks; but quality sellers will fix it even if waiting for shipping. Otherwise they get bombed with bad reviews.

Pricing also depends on which tubes you buy. You could get this combo for about $40 + shipping. You can choose from a bunch of tube brands. They all have differences that affect the tone. Weird that Monoprice don't see their own brand of vacuum tubes as replacements.

I guess new this is a luke warm deal, but you can get an Orange Crush 20w used for about $100, maybe a little less, and pay $150ish for a used Boss Katana 50w.

I bought one a week or so ago. With the lack of controls, the low end is pretty flubby and sloppy until you plug a pedal in. And then it becomes a happy little thing.

I know that this amp is the guitar amp. However, can I use it for the Keyboard? Thanks-
Depends what kind of sound you're looking for. If you're after a retro, deep purple type sound then hell yeah.

Yeah, speaker isn't that great and the tone control is pretty useless. I modded. Mine a bit - added a real attenuator circuit, made. The tone knob into a big muff one (it boosts and cuts both trsbble and bass), and various other tweaks. A bit hard to do a lot of mods since most of the components on the circuit board are very small. But use effects and an external cab and you have killer class A tube goodness. I'm kind of with the guy recommending the 15watter with reverb honestly.

Switchable between 1w and 5w is a nice touch. 8 inch speaker is a non starter for me, though. Even a 10 inch is pushing it for getting much low end out of it. Twang to your heart's content, though.

This is a great tube amp for the price. It has a lot of really nice features, particularly the external cab output and the 1w/5w switch. It is a lot louder than you may think, and it's a great size to bring to jams and play in the bedroom. Highly recommend.
Unless they changed it, that 1w/5w is a gimmick (as it is with most amps). All it does (at least on mine from a few years ago) is it attenuates the input (less input on a tube amp equates to less gain usually). What I ended up doing with mine is installed an attenuator circuit on the output. You would have to Google it but believe I had to use a few larger resistors (large in size, not resistance - like maybe 10w or 20w ones) and they're wired up in series/parallel with the speaker but in a fashion which doesn't change impedence. And have mine hooked to a single pole toggle switch I believe (been so long I would have to look at it). Anyway, like I said you can find a bit of info on the web if anyone is interested.
