Maybe I'll get downvoted for this, but if you're looking to buy an "inexpensive" phone (because it's generations old) and want a good camera, i would stay away from the S20 Ultra.

Is the camera good? it actually is good and takes great shots. BUT, there are known issues out there with the focusing system (google "s20 ultra camera focusing issue"). My phone definitely had it and I tried fixing with multiple resets.

I would be "close" to the subject (3 feet, my dog). I'd want to take a picture of him holding a treat, he's taking up 75% of the frame, yet the camera is focusing on the floor/furniture behind him. Even clicking the screen it might focus, but once you take a pic it focuses on the background. It was insanely frustrating. When you could get a good shot (i swear like 50% of the time or less), it was good, but I "lost" a lot of cute pics of the pup

I went to [a large, well established used electronics site] and purchased the Google 6 Pro for $320 and LOVE it. I was bummed because I wanted an elite phone with MicroSD, but the camera on the S20 Ultra was the deal breaker. For reference, over the last 10 years I've owned the original Galaxy, Galaxy 2, most of the phones on the LG line up through the G6 or G7, then the S20 Ultra and now Google 6 Pro.
All my damn Notes have had auto focusing issues. So used to it by now. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh

There's potential for international SoC models to get mixed up with these aren't there? You don't really know until you check the serials and thats after a purchase

The camera focus issue was a problem in it's first year, but I think it vastly improved with updates. Anyone using it with android 13 and can comment with RECENT experience?

You should be using cloud or a dedicated camera if you want to keep that many high resolution videos. If you can afford a 1k phone then you can afford 8 dollars per month for cloud. It's atypical to need instant access to that many videos of that size outside of specific fields of work, and you would be using a dedicated tool and not a phone.
A couple of things wrong with this.

1) $8/month for 3 years is $288. Assuming they don't raise prices. Given i tend to keep my phone for a long time, that can add cost to the phone and I give up the ability access my videos instantly

2) 5G is not everywhere and I tend to hit the less populated areas when exploring and recording these videos. So the persistent argument of going to the cloud does not work.

3) I just don't trust the cloud to keep my data safe enough.

So there is some use case outside the specialty use cases. What would get me to move over to cloud is high speed 5G available and reliable everywhere including remote mountainous area and farmland. Cloud storage is basically free and uploads and downloads are automatically encrypted by me not the cloud storage company.

No but you're being optimistic based on the values towards the 23 series. As a fold 4 owner, I'll probably be skipping the 5 if the values are as crap as they were the last go around

Where is the deal? These are used and 3+ years old. I'm out the door with a new pixel 7 directly from Google for $145. Buy, trade, and repeat every 2 years.
Where's the link to this $145 phone plz?

The S20 Ultra suffered from focusing & camera lag issues. these were significantly improved, but not 100% fixed, via software updates.

The S21 also suffers from focusing issues. I've had so many random blurs on shots of items which should easily have been in focus. Well lit and still. Even some type of font text on equipment will show up blury no matter how many different ways I take the photo; angle, lighting, distance. Sent Samsung numerous tech support requests with documentation. I went on forums to see similar issues relating to my experience. Lots of photos taken daily. Seems like 1 out of 7 end up blurred, but often just random. No fixes.

5G Ultra Wideband (T Mobiles "UC") does show up on the S21 but it can be so random too. Same towers. Same distances. Same obstructions or no obstructions. Not sure if it is the towers or the phone.

Are we talking ultra to ultra here? I don't recall my 21 ultra having that problem and I know my 21 plus doesn't...
