It could happen to anyone. It's easy to say this in retrospect but not everyone has been exposed to leaving pavement.

If you plan to do off roading, learn about it.
If you plan to pull a vehicle out of mud, learn about it.
Manage your risks in life, but eventually you may over look one thing and regret it.

Please don't use cheap crap for recovery and know how to use your equipment. People have died using garbage and/or doing it incorrectly.
