So is Globe Tools, the company that makes Greenworks, as well as TTI, who makes Ryobi, Ridgid, and Milwaukee's power tools? That doesn't mean any of them is owned by the CCP.

Tip when it comes to buying EGO from Lowe's: Buy the Lowe's warranty. It's relatively cheap ($29 for the trimmer I bought last year). Covers accidental damage. But the best part is it gives you 50% back for cosmetic parts (added straps, handles, etc) and 50% back for consumables, *including* batteries. The consumables and cosmetic parts portion will pay out up to $100 per year for each year of the extended warranty. So I immediately bought an additional 2.5ah battery for $149 and submitted a consumables claim and got reimbursed $75 on a Lowe's e-gift card the same day. Yes, the reimbursements are with Lowe's gift cards, but it still pays for itself with one claim. And I can do it every year if I want.

That depends if it's new, refurbished, or used. If you're going to buy another ego product, you may want to wait for a combo deal with the battery.

I love my Ego tools...I hate their batteries.

After year 2, they all start to degrade exponentially. Even if stored right - with correct temperatures/charge - they will begin to hold 1/2 a charge or less, making it a PITA the use.

I have 5 ego tools, 2x 2.5ah, and 2x 5.0ah. I love being electric. Super easy to start/stop. No fussing with gas/oil/spark plugs. But ultimately, you will be paying for battery replacements more frequently than you thought.

Does the price of these batteries offset the inconvenice of gas? That's for you to decide. I'm just not happy I'm going to have to fork over $500 for batteries when I'm not even on my 4th year with these tools. Ego should offer some kinda replacement program if these batteries become paperweights so quickly.

The warranty is 3 years on the batteries so "all" having problems after 2 would mean they're replacing all their batteries under warranty.... seems unlikely to be accurate given they haven't gone bankrupt yet.

I've had my trimmer and lawn mower for 2.5 or so years. Zero issues

I was hoping for a deal on the trimmer with battery. I already have the 650 CFM blower with the 4.0 battery and would like the extra battery. Hopefully the Memorial Day sales will have something.

I need their hedge trimmer attachment to go on sale. $219 is ridiculous for an attachment when for $30 more you can get 6 inches more hedge trimmer, battery and charger.

Need this deal to come around again. Ego deals don't come that often compared to Ryobi. I could use another 2ah.

Not sure I follow this. Can you give more details pls? After buying the additional battery, what did you submit the consumable claim for?

These are expensive to beging with and even the tools only items costing $200+ too. I have the same hesistant with buying the battery powered tools. I bought the 765 blower and had to return it due to battery would not last more than 30 minutes using the mid power settings. I am not sure how to justify ~$350 for blower.
