From most boxes I've seen, there is 1 fusion strike, 1 brilliant stars, and 2 silver tempest packs
Not a rip off, but not a great deal. Not frontpage worthy. I realize MSRP is going up, but a good deal on packs should be $3. These promos aren't adding that much value to this box.

Like I said, if the additional goodies are important to you then great, that's just not why most people pick it up, they go for the booster packs, and the ones within here aren't particularly desirable.
Example of a good deal would be the costco mini tins recently, $3/pack and you got evolving skies within, which you can't find anywhere for less than ~$7/pack right now.
At the end of the day, they are pieces of small paper that's printed nicely with cool pictures. Literally they're printing somewhat worthless paper with pics and get real paper money. Nice business model.
Isn't that the same as buying a book in a bookstore?

Is this any good for a kid just getting getting Pokémon TCG (battle academy decks)?
If your buying to play buy an eBay lot of 1000s of cards for cheap. If you're Collecting, buy on eBay again or tcgplayer. Correct me if I'm wrong but this really is gambling for kids, and at $.50 a card it can get very expensive. The only saving grace is the online codes. At least there your duplicates give you gems back where u can get different cards.

That Costco deal sounds pretty good, where'd you see it?

At $4+ per pack, this actually isn't a deal at all. Hard pass.
