This was posted before. Design flaw is that the bar doesn't actually sit all the way in the locking mechanism. It fits 2 of 3 parts on the receiving end.

For light duty use, it's fine. But look closely at the photos

I have the 2-1/8" version from the same company. The pictures look similar to the one in the link but mine does go through all four holes.

If you read the questions and answers somebody's asked can the door be lifted still to be opened and they say yes and that's how you would get through a sliding glass door. Just let you know but this would be good for something else different application

I don't know how easy it would be to break it out of just one hole though, it might take more force than people think.

Limit of 3 per account, but I grabbed some to use as door latches for an RV. Light enough duty to do that job well without being overkill.

I ordered 3 when they were $2.50 last week. On mine, all of the bars go through both holes. Also, they look better than the picture on Amazon - the bar is flat across the top and the mounted parts have a better finish and casting. Haven't installed any yet, so I don't know about the screws.

Looks like either you receive a longer one or a short one.

Very confusing product and design! The first one I ordered (second picture) makes sense and is the reason I ordered another set. The drop down bar is 2 1/4" and penetrates both plate holes giving it a solid connection; no slop, no play. I ordered a second 'of the same product' and what came in has a 1 1/4" drop down bar which only penetrates the top plate hole and has quite a bit of play (first image). Why you would make a plate, with two holes, and a bar the only engages one of them makes zero sense. It's better than nothing but I haven't been able to find another lock with a 2 1/4" drop. Just an FYI review

Ordered 1 and same with mine, unfortunately the 1.125" span isn't enough for my door. It's cheap enough to keep for a gate or whatever pops up in the future though

French doors will never be very secure. That being said, I've used floor bolts like this:
https://www.amazon.com/QCAA-Solid...70&sr=8-13

Or if cost isn't a concern, something like this would block both doors at once:
https://www.amazon.com/OnGARD-Rei...70&sr=8-10

You can also buy angled reinforcement rods that butt up against the handle, but that's more of a temporary solution.
