Discover it Card promotional 0% Apr for 12 months for current members. - $0.00

Hello All, I recently just noticed my credit card apr went from 11.99 % to 16.74 % gradually over the course of a year. I contacted discover via chat to ask why, ( I obviously know why) but I wanted to see what they would say and if there was any promotions they can offer. 2 years ago I caught this promotion 0% apr for 12 months. I didn't think they would be able to do this again, but they did. this is actually pretty good in my eyes. This is something that you have to chat with them and ask for. I have the basic discover it card and have been with them since 2018 and use this as my main card. Thought it would be good to share. Thanks for reading.

This is for new purchases.

Few of the above comments here are misleading. I was able to request 0% APR and did confirm with customer service about this offer being different than the balance transfer (that shows up in everyone's mail / offers page).

Just chatted with customer service as well and had the same experience.

Written confirmation says for purchases 3/2023 through 3/2024.

Be careful putting purchases on this card, particularly of anything valuable, given that Discover nerfed nearly all its purchase protections a couple years ago:

So for buying groceries or paying parking fares, sure.
Buying a new computer or fridge, hell no.

Let the 0% credit card arbitrage begin! Has been a long time since this was worth doing again.

Just like everyone else, not many cc offer that type of insurance anymore.

I did the same over a month ago just to see if they have any offers asking why my APR increased without notice from 12 to 20+. They had the 0% on purchases for 12 months on my both cards. They also offered 0% on purchases for 1 yr back in mid 2020 too. I check every couple of years

If you use this card for any of it's cashback categories this is the worst choice you could make. Typically any payment you make is applied to the debt first before any new purchases so it will continue to charge interest till full payment is made. If you decide to take the 0% offer (and in some situations it's useful) then toss the card in a drawer and forget about it till it's paid off.
I know what you're talking about, but that doesn't apply to this kind of an offer. You're thinking of how they handle balance transfers. The way Discover handles payments is they first apply to your minimum payment, then anything over that applies to your largest balance first. So if you carry a large balance transfer balance and make new purchases, it is impossible to pay off those new purchases without paying off the entire balance. So yes if you use this card for a BT, essentially you have to quit using it until you pay off the BT offer if you don't want to pay interest.

This offer is different though. This gives you 0% on all purchases within the offer period. It's not a BT offer.

Some people here are having problems with reading. OP talked about 0% interest rate for future purchases in the next 12m, not about balance transfer with a fee. They are totally 2 different offers.

I got both offers on my Discover card.

Most credit card companies nowadays is getting harder and harder to deal with purchase protection or charging some fees that negate the benefit.

Chatted and no go on my account, stuck with 15.25 APR. This card really stinks, pretty weak rewards should prob stop using it completely.

Do you have this card and use it? If so, go ask in chat for any offers they have for your account; you may get offered 0% interest for 1 year for new purchases once the offer is activated.

Any existing balance you have is not able to leverage this offer, only new purchases once the offer is activated.

Been doing this every year for the past few years. It's on a 12 month deal. So once it expires, just hit up chat and ask for it again.
