It shows $36 for me but many reviews indicate they come in warped or chipped.

Has a pretty high rating overall, most usually have a good take on the Lodge brand.

I have this skillet and the smaller (8 inch) version. It's a good skillet.

Thinking about buying this. Did you have to season it again before 1st use? Amy rust issues?

Nope. The seasoning was fine. Rust is only going to be an issue if you soak or there is any bare metal exposed (they season the entire pain thoroughly). I think I more oil than usual on my first cook, but I think the seasoning the factory that Lodge does is great.

A lot of people obsess over getting their seasoning smooth as glass and they want and egg to slide around like an air hockey puck on a single drop of oil. All I really care about is if the pans clean up easy and they do; about 90% of the time, I get everything out of the pan in about 30 seconds with one of those Dawn poly mesh scrubbers. Once in a while I do need my chainmail scrubber.

I would season it again. Also, be careful when heating this style of pan up, you have to do it gradually or it can warp.

You don't have to. It's up to you on how much effort you want to put in; it'll just be a bit stickier the first few times you cook with it. You can avoid that by seasoning it more, if that bothers you.

ATK just did a really good video about Carbon steel pans. It covers seasoning, cleaning etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDKZp685Je4

it does not specifically talk about Lodge carbon steel pan but it would be helpful to all the people that have question on carbon steel and their maintenance

Will note that you can skip the initial scrubbing for this particular carbon steel pan, since its preseasoned.

The potato peels and salt is a nice way to repurpose peels, but if you don't have them, a paper towel + oil + salt+tongs works well.

I wonder if people that complain about warping are using these on electric stoves, which is an unfortunate way to cook. A pan would have to be ridiculously warped to be problematic on a gas stove.

Thanks op
Picked up a 12 inch with silicone handle and a 10 inch from home Depot which has it at the same price.

Already have 10 and 12 inch lodge cast iron so will give these a shot.

I have this pan and its great for searing meat after sous vide. It is slightly convex which helps the meat have more surface contact. Much lighter than cast iron and heats up faster and cools down faster. Since getting this pan its been my go-to. The seasoning was fine however the first pan did arrive banged up from shipping, the replacement amazon sent was fine. Home depot sells the same one with a silicone grip for the same price. However the handle never gets hot so I don't see the need for the grip. I have already recommended this pan to family and friends.
