aldi's sells very fruit dense strawberry preserves
made and packed in germany 18oz only $2 a jar.

i have "converted" many of my costco shopping friends
to using it over the bulk jars they sell for twice as much.
I think most people know what these are and don't need others to tell them to get healthier options which are twice as expensive if not more.

If you know these have added sugar or other things you don't want then why are you clicking on this deal? Is it purely because you need to chime in on things everyone already knows?
So....to each their own, but my family changed to Fruit Spread a long time ago. The 'quick' difference is natural sugar and no High Fructose Corn Syrup.

You can even get Fruit Spread with reduced sugar if you want to watch the amount of sugar you consume. The main purpose for my comment is that you can find this price with the natural fruit spread too. Something you may like at some point of time. If you read the ingredients of most of the fruit spread, it's very small amount compared to all the extra stuff they add to their "jam" and other products.

I buy many of my staple grocery items at Aldi's, but Ijust can't get behind their strawberry preserves. Just don't like the texture or flavor. Another is their cream cheese. I find it grainy and sour.

When comparing, realize these are 12oz jars vs 18oz jars most other places.

Edit: I missed that the larger jars are jelly instead of jam.

For those considering the Smucker's grape jam, the 32 oz pack of 6 of grape jelly is a better deal per ounce.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AE4...LEYLGVP1S5

With my 15% S&S discount and the 30% coupon, the cost per ounce for the 32 oz 6 pack of jelly is $0.067 versus $0.128 per oz for the 12 oz 6 pack of jam.

The REAL difference between fruit jams/preserves, jellies, and "spreads" is that the spreads do not meet the FDA standard of identity for either jam or jelly, often due to a reduced amount of the fruit product. Jam and Jelly are both defined by an FDA standard of identity, but "fruit spread" is undefined by the FDA--it is a marketing term which does not have a standard of identity.

You see a similar thing with peanut butter vs peanut spread, where to be labeled as peanut butter it must contain at least 90% peanuts.

See https://www.ncrfsma.org/files/pag...lies_0.pdf and https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/sc...fr=150.140 and https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/sc...fr=150.160 .

That isn't to say spreads are bad, but the labeling difference is NOT due to the inclusion or exclusion of corn syrup.

Last two times half the bottles were either broke or open due to the way Amazon packs them.

That is for the jelly, not the jam. There is a difference.

Guessing you mean to say grape jelly instead of jam? Either way, this is a fantastic deal! I purchased six 32 ounce jars for $12.93. We will use these for feeding the Baltimore Orioles this spring! Rep for finding the better deal!
