Target used to have a house-brand model in larger dimensions that was my go-to for garage storage. These days I've complemented those with the (admittedly more expensive) Sam's Club model when it has gone on sale. The larger dimensioned wire shelving seems to be significantly higher quality than those sold exclusively in smaller dimensions.

The difference is about 1.98 cents per square inch of shelving space in this smaller shelf vs. 2.31 cents per square inch of shelving space for something like the Sam's Club model at $100. That would only put the Sam's Club model at $58 vs. the $50 in this deal when comparing like shelving space (36" * 14" * 5 shelves = 2520 square inches). In other words, the bigger shelves seem much more expensive, but really aren't if you can use the space and especially if you factor in the more rugged build quality.

Good luck!

Pros

It works well as a bookshelf now, and it is sturdy, that's for sure. Not so sturdy that i would put anything precious and breakable on it but i trust my seedlings on it.

I needed a simple, but strong utility shelf for my office/shop & this appears to be perfect! Great shelf for the price. Perfect size for a shelving unit on top of a standard file cabinet.
Cons
Quote :
This shelving system/rack costs over $70 after tax. The plastic inserts that are supposed to hold the shelf on the pole are almost worthless. The snap tabs that come with these storage shelves are poor. The clip tabs constantly slide down and prevent the shelf from being securely assembled.

I am not a 'fussy karen' type, but felt compelled to warn anyone wasting time on this product. This product is flimsy and rediculous. Do not recommend.

Have this shelf, it is worth the 50 . If you are going to store over weight things on it of course it is going to bend. Be a normal person and use common sense and it is a nice looking sturdy shelf.
It is not over $70 at the moment like the quote suggested above.

Got three of these from Costco 20+ years ago. The style and function is great. I have no idea of their brand, or these. But, pretty sure, their quality is much higher. Take a look at them. Trust your senses. Those clips have to be right.

That's another item I would definitely give kudos to the warehouse club options, as both the Sam's and Costco models have fairly good, oversize wheels paired to their wire shelving.

Of course, I've never used the wheels in any my installations but I've definitely been holding onto the casters from my Sam's club shelving purchases as those are really solid.

Good luck!

Speaking of Costco, one reason I like the larger dimension shelves is because they neatly accept three of the Costco plastic storage bins on each shelf in the right configuration. This has made the combination of wire shelves + plastic bins a great option for relatively modular garage and basement storage.

Good luck!

plastic casters are junk and will fail with enough weight.

I have this and just put it together this week and there is no way the shelves support 200lbs. The shelves are pretty flimsy compared to a different 5 tier shelf I bought from Target years ago. Still a good price and it's sturdy overall but I bet 70lbs would start bending the shelf over time. The middle wires are weak.
