Can someone please explain to me how this is better than a quill? With geese as abundant as they are, why would anyone need such an extravagant item as these newfangled fountain pens?
Cartridges are cheap online and less messy. Converters are also easily avail online

Meh, was definitely interested until I realized it takes cartridges and doesn't have a refillable converter with it.
If you can get a syringe with a needle you can refill the cartridge in under a minute with any ink you want. I have had the same lamy safari for about 6 years on my desk now.
Fountain pens turned into luxury items these days, so if you can't afford, turn away.
That said, if you still want fountain pen and too ~cheap~ slick to pay double digits for one, you can get the cheap Chinese pens on ebay or aliexpress :shrug:

Sure, but then you'd have to deal with the consequences of trying to take a geese's quill
