Not bad for trade ins towards 14. Did that with some XR's recently. Was able to buy XR from boost for $99 and trade for. $800 towards a 14 at bestbuy. So got a 14 for $99 plus $69 tax on 14. I'm thinking 11's will be the lowest you can trade for top dollar when the 15's come out.
Is that deal still available?

Metro PCS deal is better as you can get an iPhone 11 64GB for $0 if you port in a new number and pay for one month of service. It ends up costing $60 for the service and $20 for the activation fee. So a little over $80 when you account for taxes but you have to go in person to a store.

You also don't need to pay for consecutive service and the phone unlocks after 180 days from activation.
Always wondering abt those port in deals. Can I just grab a MVNO prepaid number and port in? Is there any wait time / do they take my personal info?

Eh bill credits tho
So. You get the cash up front. And pay it back $5 at a time. It's a wash for a phone that your out of pocket is just tax. Seems slick to me

I picked up a number from number barn for $7 and it took 2 hours to activate. I didn't have any issues porting the number to metro pcs

Yes. That is the regular value. But they have promos periodically. Especially in the fall when the new iPhone hit. And various other times as well. About a month ago I traded a locked XR for $130 cash plus $670 in bill credits towards a 14. Meaning out of pocket was $69 for tax on 14. $108 for xr to trade. The $5.41/ month a pay was covered by the $130 upfront cash I got. So effective cost for the 14 was $177. Works for me. Keep you eyes open for bestbuy promos. They are quite amazing. Got my 13 pro max that way for $125 total last year. And that deal didn't even involve bill credits.
Does this require you to go into a contract after the trade-in? or you just need to be a current network user?

Requires in person though and bunch of BS with some stores

Well, if you are planning to get this deal I don't recommend to port your number to Boost unless you are sure their service is good where you are.
I have been fighting with them for weeks and wasted many hours waiting and talking to their dysfunctional CS team in vain to cancel autopay and to get my account & port out pin number

They are saying their system is down and if you search online you will see people filing FCC claims to get their port out info

How to cancel once you receive? Do I have to call in or can it be done online?

You can cancel auto pay by automated call system. No need to speak to a CS. Porting is a different issue though.

I wish someone said something like this in the iphone 12 deal thread. I was impressed when I first ported my number that the internet speed was better than Visible but after two days I discovered that the network is not reliable at all, I don't have data even with full bars coverage sometimes and of course they will keep you waiting for an hour on the line then they will say there system is down and they can't give you your port out info

I have never seen something like this before
