Come on. Do not add pre-conditions to earn more. We are talking about no pre-conditions to earn 2% cash back on everything purchase and you just can't find the card to earn more. If you like conditions such as annual fee, member to open a bank account etc, that is a different thing. People may not like those conditions.

I recently got denied for this and the primary reason was "No mortgage, auto or other no-revolving trades, with too many inquiries in the last 6 months".
In other words, since I don't have any outstanding loans (and pay off cc bills in full each month), they didn't see me as a potential money maker for them. I had one of their cards probably 10 years ago and they closed that account eventually due to inactivity. Credit rating of 815, but I have opened some new cards recently to take advantage of medical bills, 2 prior to the WF application, and 1 since. First denial in probably 20+ years.
Their consumer banking reputation is pretty bad but I thought I'd try for the 2X cash back card., but c'est la vie.

My guess is you got denied automatically, if you contact a REAL person I'm guessing they could most likely get you approved.

In general, Is this card known to give a healthy credit limit? What's the sense of a good balance transfer rate if you the limit is low? Ty tu sd

Found out they do transfer credit limit between cards. So if you have another WF card, don't close it before applying for this one.

FYI if it's not mentioned already, but for those who travel internationally, this card charges 3% foreign transaction fees.

Just got this card a few weeks ago and they did a hard pull that hit my credit score pretty hard. I was way over 800 before the pull and now it's around 760.

I wasn't expecting that hard of a hit to my score.

Did your score go down because of the 1 single inquiry or because of the new account posting on your report effecting credit age etc?

Also which bureau and score version do they check? Example Equifax fico 8 or Transunion fico 9 ?

My score went down 19 points from the initial hard pull which happened the same day that i submitted everything that I needed for my application (which included a fax of my last pay stub). It said the source of the pull was Wells Fargo through Experian (I also logged into my experian to see this). It then went down another 55 points when the new account got approved and was opened... so overall it dropped 74 points from just opening this card. That's a massive hit considering they only gave me a $2500 credit line too. I'm not too happy about that low credit line, because i could easily hit that while on a vacation with rental cars, hotels and meals... and I don't want to be in a situation of having over 30% of my available credit regularly used up on the card, since that's considered a risk factor and generally lowers your credit score as the lender reports your balance to the 3 credit agencies at the end of each billing cycle. I usually pay my utility bills on my credit card too, so i always have a decent amount on it each month that I always pay off in full.

Overall I'm not too happy with the way this turned out to start. Hard hit on my credit and a low credit limit on the new card for no apparent reason. I have high income, a long credit history of perfect credit and employment (22 years at same job and 8 years at a different job prior to that with overlap of the 2 jobs), and also have another open credit card that I've had for something like 20+ years, and no current loans or debt of any sort.

Hopefully that was the answer to what you asked as far as the bureau they used.

Can a credit card determine what you are pruchasing? I tend to buy discounted gift cards, but acording to this statement, WF does not give rewards if you buy prepaid gift cards. Or does this mean gif cards from them?

Yes it does answer ! Was approved for $9000 . Experian fico 8 score 746. Wasn't asked proof of income. Ex inquires are easy to remove before the account posts for the 1st time next month by calling in. Ive noticed creditors sometimes like to match credit lines with other CC's in your profile. In my case my truist card is also exactly $9k.

Hopefully you can do a credit line increase using a soft pull in the future.

Thanks for the data points

Can you elaborate on what you mean about the calling in to remove Ex inquiries? I'm not following at all.
