A lot of big name outdoor gear makers have goods produced in Vietnam. Mystery Ranch is known for some of the highest quality packs and the first place they built an office outside the US was Ho Chi Minh City. Don't confuse every South East Asian country with China. I'll take a knife or tool made in the right Taiwanese factory any day or nylon gear from Vietnam. That being said, yeah it has a Swedish flag on it you'd expect it might still have Swedish roots.
I bet someone from Vietnam wouldn't make said mistake. laugh out loud

Nah. The quality of Nike shoes sees significant drop ever since they switched their production to Vietnam. Similar applies to other brands and stuff, sadly.

$80 is still a lot. I would get the north face Campshire over this, when on sale.

Fleece jackets from brand names seem to be around this range. Feels like its pretty expensive consider they are just made of polyester.

As an owner of no-name brand, Amazon, basics brand, and name brands like the North Face and Patagonia - I can tell you that even though they all say "fleece" and are made in Vietnam or China, they are very different.

My thinner TNF pullover is as warm as my Amazon Basics puffer jacket. No joke. My thin Patagonia Nano Puff jacket is warmer than my other fashion brand puffer jacket. There are clear differences between these brands, and they have very different technology to them. Most are made in Vietnam.

My TNF Apex Bionic is extremely wind resistant and warm down to the 40s with a sweatshirt. The fake Bionic from Amazon for $29 on sale isn't anywhere close to that. I feel cold in about 60° with it. They look nearly identical.

Definitely 2nd the Patagonia nano puff. Hell, it's my go-to these days as it's packable and often warmer than most thicker jackets.

Is Fjallraven the new brand buying in to the marketshare?

I feel like post lockdown, i just see this fox logo around the public spaces as the new fresh thing over people wearing North face, patagonia etc.

I bought this jacket and returned it because it was very stiff and heavy. I was expecting a soft fleece but apparently it has this rougher inner lining made of a different material than the fleece.

I don't care where this is made. Is it good quality and warm in the mountains outdoor? Anyone?

Cosign for Vietnam. Vietnam is the hub for high quality technical pieces. Arc'teryx, Patagonia, etc.

Do you still get cheap craftsmanship on mass produced products (e.g. Nike)? Sure. But for the higher priced stuff, Japan/S. Korea/Vietnam > rest of Asia.

One caveat on Nike, their Run Division line is excellent, albeit overpriced.

These have a weird liner and feel kinda stiff inside.

is it ok that i'm talking about the product or do you have to talk about the country of origin as if that matters
