Can this tablet still run Google play store and other Google apps with some work or has Amazon locked that down?

Yesterday, I purchased the "Fire HD 10 Plus" for $134.99 No Ads - 20% Off trade-in offer ($27) - $20 trade-in of Fire HD 8 (7th Generation) = $100.36 after tax and fee.

I'll follow the instructions to install Google Play on it.

Updated: Google Store installed and worked

I have bought a couple of these tablets each generation since 2017 and they are always the best bang for your buck but lately Amazon has been cracking down and making it harder to modify these. I don't think I will buy the next generation unless they are too good to pass up. Currently the Lenovo tab 11 pro gen 2 is the bang for your buck in tablets that was on sale recently at Walmart for $218. I still have a few fire hd 10s that I need to get rid of. 1 2019 and 2 2021 one plus model. I definitely have a problem with buying too many tablets and too many phones.

My understanding is that google store can still be installed, but they now prevent the change of the launcher. I believe the latest toolbox can install Google if you want it.

The Amazon Fire Toolbox makes it easy to do a lot to these things. However, some models and OS versions are more locked down than others. The XDA developers thread is the place to find the official version of the app along with the latest information on what is and isn't working.

There are a few issues with this tablet BUT the price can not be beat. Do I recommend... NO.

Issues:
1. This tablet has the most bloatware of any tablet that you can buy, so much so that it slows down the true speed of the tablet.
2. XDA no longer works like it use to... you can no longer disable Amazon apps, so you will always have all these apps running in the back ground.
3. Amazon is always a few OS behind.

Even though you can install the play store (I do it without using XDA), the bloatware is just to extreme IMHO.

Why I do not recommend, because of the Lenovo P11 Pro 2nd Gen that sells when on sale for $220.00. This tablet is better in every single way and is worth every penny. I also consider this tablet the best value of any tablet on the market.

Best bang for the buck is the p11 pro 2nd gen when on sale for 220.

I normally roll my eyes when someone says to buy something that costs more than twice as much as the deal. The Amazon tablet is soo bad imo I have to agree. Fell for it twice, the second time the "faster" one came out and still after some use started to slow down. Even sideloading Google Play Store does not mean all the apps you want to use will work. You really are better off spending more on something else with actual full Android OS and far less bloatware.

I guess maybe I didn't use it as hard as some of you guys, but we still have our Fire HD 10 from I think 2017? It still runs Amazon Prime video streaming beautifully and Sling TV app. I sometimes use it for baby cam app and have other streaming apps installed. I think in the $100 budget, maybe not anymore, but still may be the best tablet out there (it's no longer the best VALUE, but what are the competitors at $100 price point?).

*I usually have a laptop and tablet stream something on the side so it's purely for media consumption. I did let my 5yr old install and play Angry Birds on it a few months ago and seems like it was running fine (although AB isn't like what it used to with some micro transactions?).

Bought one, I traded in my Kindle 4th gen I bought for $20 via Woot over a year ago and got the 20% off as well as $25 TIV making this a little over $60 after tax.

How often does it go on sale? I'd like to pick one up.
