From what I read, almost every supplement company (including US) sourced their Creatine from manufacturers in China. So during COVID times, those plants shut down, and even when they reopened, production was low and transportation was bad (like for all other things that used the supply chain).
So Creatine, our old faithful cheap but effective supplement, more than doubled in price!

Creatine is in many foods. It's no less natural than a multivitamin.

Is this a good brand to pull a trigger on?
It's just creatine. Single ingredient. I would just go for cheapest you can get.

Pass on this crap...all natural here
Pretty difficult to get 10 grams/day through whole food. I know most recommend 5… but I am larger than the average bear.

From all the sources I researched on creatine, it seems to really benefit top athletes the most who need to reach the next level. An average joe would really be wasting their money and would be better served improving their regimen and protein intake. Any thoughts?

Outside of potential physical benefits, there are studies that show it increases brain function and may even help with mild depression.

Mostly Yes. Not sure you have to be professional, but someone who goes to the gym once every two weeks it's a complete waste. But if you work out a few days a week consistently than it's worth it.

I've started working out 6 months ago and started taking creatine recently. I notice a difference. Takes about a month to kick in but you'll be able to do a couple more reps per set.

Anyone know about quality or source of creatine? Haven't taken it in forever, especially with the prices going up. Never felt it was worth it. But seems like there are a lot of health benefits besides potentially helping muscle gains.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like it's produced in the US.

I took it for a couple of months and I can easily say it made a difference. Both in my workouts and recovery. I actually took myself off to test the theory and definitely a difference in energy.

Word of warning, you will most certainly hold water. I hear HCL makes you hold less but I haven't tested that.

Creatine is the most researched supplement on the market, mainly because it's been around for 40 years now at this point. I would say in the late 90's and 2000s it got a little bit of a bad wrap, do to overuse and uneducated use. The research shows now that 5g a day is a standard dosage and has verifiable benefits, not only to lean muscle growth and recovery but (as of recent studies) cognitive benefits including memory, focus, etc.

Creatine Monohydrate is one of the only supplements though that needs to be taken nearly every day. Your body has to "accept" and start working with the supplement. Years back people use to "load", and take 15-20g a day or more for 5-ish days....although that MAY work, you'll most likely get significant gastric distress and also retain a ton of water. Take 5g a day consistently (even on non workout days) and you'll start to feel results in about 2-3 weeks. If you cycle on and off or are just very inconsistent, your body will never experience the full benefit and you're really just wasting your money on it.

I would also suggest taking in a form such as this, or capsule based single ingredient, so you know exactly how much you're taking. By decreasing variables you'll also be able to pinpoint that it does (or doesn't) work for you, and it's not something else in sort of all-in-one supp.
