Not a deal - was as low as 8.22 and has been at this price for months according to the 3c's. Then there's the fact that many reviews say the products are poorly protected in transit and arrive broken.
I am guessing its because the 16 cell is XL size and has bigger slots.

Yep, I've been using a plastic 24-egg carton. Not the styrofoam ones but transparent ones. The cover forms a greenhouse. It has worked fine so far. I might, however, upgrade to the cheap starter trays with an LED plant light. That'll allow me to start the plants indoors. I'll of course acclimate the seedlings to the sun before I plant them.
My neighbor is cheap so she's using used condoms and plastic gloves (1 plant per finger) to start her seeds. She ties them on the fence so that they're out of the way. I'm sure passerbys wonder why there are gloves and condoms on her fence. Seems to work fine. In fact, her seedlings are hardier than mine.

I saw the 36 cell ones on clearance at my local Target yesterday for $8.xx (forget price exactly).
