Of course you can. Has been mentioned multiple times already in the thread.

He literally has to.

Adding $ over the actual cost of the car is the only way he stays in business. That's what his actual job is- to get more from you than it cost his dealership to acquire it.

The only thing you are "haggling" with the dealer over is how MUCH extra $ you are going to pay him over the actual cost.

Why waste your time with that garbage compared to just paying the factory price to the maker of the actual car?

No, there's MSRP and invoice and having comfortable shoes on to walk out if your numbers aren't met or if they start the B. S. in sales or the finance office. Vehicles are floorplanned which means the stealership owes money on the ones in his possession. Be an informed buyer and patient and you'll be fine along with knowing your worth. Work from invoice downwards not sticker downwards

I had a Lyft ride in a Tesla this week. Worst car ride I ever had. Does every Tesla not have shock absorbers? After that I would never buy a Tesla

As does literally every brand of car.

FWIW my Lexus had more from-the-factory problems than my Tesla did (and required more service visits during the first 5 years of ownership too). Not saying that's always the case of course, but the idea there's some massive # of substantive problems is simply not reflected in reality (one way to know this is checking Teslas warranty costs as a % compared to other car makers-- it's actually LOWER than average)

Another way is looking at owner satisfaction surveys, where Tesla reliably leads all brands. If they had massive fit/finish issues that would not be the case.

I don't know about those surveys, but as 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD owner, I will say Quality is not satisfactory, paying for FSD is a joke, ride is not comfortable and bumpy, no side mirror blind spot indicator, and range Anxiety is real.

The irony of the $7500 tax credit is that most people that can afford a Tesla can't qualify for the tax credit based on income lol!
I thought I was the only one who thought of this. If people follow the "rules" on how much they should spend on a car based on their income, most people wouldn't qualify for the tax credit.

Sure, if you have $48,000 in cash laying around and can buy next week. I personally would go with the bolt. It's almost $20k cheaper and pretty much the same car.

The Bolt is a joke. Enjoy visiting your car while it's in the shop.

Test drove mid Model 3 in Santa Nutica l.a. bottomed it on the first dip. Stupid heavy cars so the suspension works like a 20$ RC car you bought from toys r us back in the day. My 2005 Subaru out handles it and drives better.

Not true , I pay $79.84/month for 1M liability and with a teenager on the policy with Tesla insurance for my Model Y

Are you sure they will show up when you file a claim? People only talk about insurance premiums, I care insurance company will show up when you need them. Based on experience I will personally never buy from Allstate even if premium is $1.

Their margins are boasted by slave labor in China. People have no idea how cheap it is to make them over there. The margins will be gone because they are dropping prices at record levels in China as well because they just can't keep up with the likes of BYD or GM mini-EV over there. I suggest not buying one ever since the company will be declaring bankruptcy in the near future.

Ha ha. Do you know where are the Tesla made?

I paid MSRP and so have many others. I've never seen a $7000 markup. Usually $2-3k, and if you don't like the markup you just go to a diff dealer like myself and many others have.

But I do believe your $7k markup comment was purposely inflated and exaggerated for whatever reason...

It wasn't.

https://lookerstudio.google.com/u...page/3KHiC

That's a database of reported dealer markups. Searching just on the bolt and JUST on markups $7000 or more, finds a bunch of dealerships on both coasts (and a few in the middle) marking up at least $7000. If you drop the filter to "only" 5k you get a LOT more.

Not to say you can't find anybody who will sell at MSRP, if they have one to sell you... but 7k (and more) is really happening some places at these lovely Haggle locations.

And more desirable cars have had 10-20k markups or more pretty widely reported.

Seems like a ton of work to still pay more than the dealer did from the factory (which you ARE doing- because he would literally be out of business otherwise)

Whereas with Tesla I just pay the maker of the car the factory price without any work.

The tax credit cap is $150,000 for single filers or $300,000 for married. You have it completely confused with the tax credit for USED EVs which has an income CAP (not minimum) of $75,000 and the credit amount is only $4,000. You're off by a full 50% on all of your amounts
The poster is referring to income needed to qualify for the full 7500 credit.

In order to qualify for the full 7500 credit, a single filer using the standard deduction needs to have an AGI greater than roughly 66k. Anything less, the credit will be reduced to match their total tax liability.

In California you can get a Grand Cherokee PHEV that qualifies for 7500 dollar tax credit for ~50k. Hemet Jeep has a ton.

62,000 here. I was just at the Jeep dealership 2 days ago.
