Why didn't they make the buttons the appropriate colors? Seems goofy to make them black and yellow and then have little printed dots of the correct button color next to them.

I'm just throwing this out there. If you have the amazon deal for ten dollars off of pickup, this can stack. Also, the red version is on sale for $44.

Depends, if your PC has bluetooth, you don't need an adapter. If it doesn't you'll need an adapter, either the official Microsoft one or a bluetooth USB adapter. Technically you could also use an adapter from 8bitdo but I've had awful luck with their adapters in the past.
This also functions if plugged directly into a device with USB. I use it via both Bluetooth and wired modes.

One thing that surprised me about these controllers is that they're powered via plain old AA batteries. This was a bit of a shock, having used Nintendo Pro controllers most recently.

I prefer controllers that use AA batteries (I have a stash of rechargeable ones). When the charge is low, I simply swap out the batteries instead of having to plug in a cable or switch controllers.

This is the way. I'm tired of everything trying to be disposable. People got excited about 8bitdo's latest ultimate with hall effect but the dang thing is so anticonsumer. You gotta put in some effort to get to the battery and hope you can find a non-explody one to replace it one day.

AA batters are the way to go.

"Electric Volt"- is that a thing now? Like to clarify vs. the human Volta family or something?
... what?

So it doesn't break the yellow/black pattern. They do this with all the colored controllers.

These work on PC as well if you prefer a controller over keyboard.
You can also connect it via usb-c if your PC doesn't have Bluetooth

The official adapters are the way to go. Bluetooth adds latency that's pretty noticeable. The official 2.4ghz adapters use the same signal as Xbox and have lower latency than wired. I've been using one for a couple years and it's never lost connection.

This guy gets it. 100% right about latency being quite a world of difference (obviously depends upon your bluetooth setup and interference and such), but the official adapters are great. I think I bought them in bulk, like a 3pk for $55 or something on ebay. They are normally 25-35$ each.

FYI Target cartwheel has a 30% off one video game accessory. Get Target to match Amazon's price (which is also $39.99) plus your red card and it comes out to an even better deal. Target cartwheel coupon good until the 15th. Sorry, it's late and I don't feel like doing the math but it will save you another 11 dollars or so off the $39.99 price.
