What was the point of this story? That some people are impatient? I don't get how this is a bad thing. Shipping since pandemic started is crazy.
SN770 is slower than this one
This tier list seems reasonably up to date: https://ssd.borecraft.com/SSD_Buying_Guide.pdf

That said, you're probably not going to see a meaningful upgrade to an SN850 for awhile (it's still one of the faster Gen 4s though the 850X is a bit faster), and going from an SX8200 Pro to a P5 Plus isn't enough of a jump to really be noticeable unless you have workloads that are super sensitive to storage speed. You'll probably have to wait till fast Gen 5 drives are available to realize any significant difference, and even then you very well might not notice it in day-to-day usage.

Crucial is tried and tru, always been a fan.

Having said that I have bought 3 Teamgroup drives in the last year and they all work perfectly, with similar competitive performance. I guess time will tell with endurance.

Speaking of endurance - I have yet to ever see a SSD fail (maybe Im lucky?) 1000+ TBW or whatever really is ALOT of writes, a typical user would take decades to hit this. (ie would upgrade / discard long before hitting it)
Back when they first came out, SSDs failed a lot for me. And even worse they fail without warning (vs spinning disks). I figure they're much more reliable these days. Even so, I now back up everything I care to save

The Google AI says they have half the failure rate compared to HDDs (from a Backblaze study)

Waaaay overpriced. Teamgroup 2TB is $70. A performance SSD like this should be a couple of bucks more not almost 2x the cost especially when there is a massive oversupply of DRAM and NAND memory right now.
I'm guessing you're comparing this to Gen 3 M.2?

Other PC components are also much more expensive if you compare current vs last generation performance. I do agree it's usually a better value to buy a generation or two back.

The Intel 670p for $79 is the way to go..I have 980 Pro, and have used both comparitively, as boot and as storage for everyday tasks, a NO difference.

Anyone that doesn't mind "gen 3", buy the 670p. I know mentally it sounds like ancient tech, but it's not.
