I ordered one but just FYI Amazon says the typical price is $39.01 so it's only 13% off. Anyone know if these are any good? (yes I ordered one with overnight shipping having absolutely no idea how good it is lol)

OK I found a couple of YouTube videos and people seem to think it's good

Here is the 3 month price history [vvcap.com] for this item. How they arrived at $39 as the "typical price" for the past 90 days....I have no clue.

Edit, it makes more sense now that I read how they arrive at that price, it's the median price paid for this item over the past 90 days. This has been posted for $39 and $36 recently on SD, so many of the purchases would've been in that range. CCC shows the average price for this going back to 2017 is $59.68. I'm not a business major, but seems silly to me to intentionally make a deal appear less appealing.

I have a big French press that was marked as a cold brew maker. What advantage does this offer over throwing that in the fridge overnight?

Other than saving you time and giving you a lower quality product, this thing doesn't offer much more.

I love cold brew and have been obsessed for years. Got this, and even with low expectations I wasn't impressed. It basically spins the coffee basket in the top chamber "speeding up" the process. Even on the strongest setting I could only ever get a super diluted cup of coffee. Huge pain to clean as well. As I type this I'm actually wondering why I haven't gotten rid of it yet lol. There are other more advanced methods for quicker cold brew out there, but nothing comes close to the classic method of time. Just my 2 cents!

Cold brew is a summer long tradition at our home. Our simple method:

- Coarsely grind one and a half cups of whole bean coffee
- Dump coffee into 64oz mason jar and fill will cool water
- Seal lid tightly (fresh coffee will create some pressure when off gassing, and will leak if the lid isn't tight) and set on counter for 12-24hrs
- Strain contents through a cheesecloth (or paper towel) into large vessel, rinse mason jar, pour coffee back in, and refrigerate

What would you recommend instead for good cold brew? Maybe one value/time saving option and one "best coffee" option Smilie

Big French Press. It works for cold brew, and it works for normal coffee too. If you are already a big "coffee" person, you already have one, and if you don't, any "coffee" person should have one.

Fill it up with your coarse grounds, leave it overnight, and plunge it gently a few minutes before you pour so that any remnant grounds have a little bit of time to settle down.

Cold brew is basically coffee-tea and is super simple compared to other coffee methods. It just needs to steep, and you don't want the floating bits. Anything you can do to give it steep time, but not get sediment will work.

If you have a drip coffee machine the last step can be replace by pouring over the drip coffee bucket and its paper or plastic filter.

We've had one for over a year and love it. Takes about 45 min for a bold brew but tastes great, even with Walmart brand coffee

I use a nut milk bag and make cold brew concentrate. Easy process and easy clean up.
