Deal Instructions:
  1. Click "Buy" on the product page for Google Pixel 6a
  2. Select your color
  3. Select "Unlocked"
  4. Under "Have a phone to trade in?", click "Get estimate"
  5. Use the drop down menus to select your phone manufacturer, model, and storage size
  6. Select Yes or No for "Is your phone in good condition?"
  7. Click "Add trade-in"
  8. Select "Skip" under "Protect your Pixel"
    • Or select a coverage plan, which will add to your total price
  9. Click "Add to cart"
  10. Complete your purchase
  11. When your new phone arrives, transfer your data and factory reset your old device

I was thinking about this too.

If Google continues its generous trade-in values when the 7a is released, then grab a cheap 6a now and trading it in for a 7a might be a good plan too.

Hmmm...Pixel 4a5g trade is $190.

Nets out to ~ $120.

I poked around and it seems that the #1 gripe is a garbage fingerprint sensor?

Thoughts?

I have this phone and the 6. The 6a is a good phone but the 7a comes out in July. I suggest you wait and grab that.

I have bought and traded for maybe 5 or 6 pixels since November (currently my third time using a $100 referral code). I haven't had any issues yet and don't expect any... but who knows.

Poor tensor/exynos modem that could causes poor signal, overheating, and poor battery life. Manually choosing lte instead of 5g helps a little bit. I need dual sim and using that, the battery life becomes abysmal.

GStore accepts phones from Google, Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and OnePlus.
But other than the ones I listed, the trade in values from other phone/models are very low. Usually in the $25-$50 range

yes, i concur, my perfect condition 2XL is valued at $36.75, yikes, while the 3a is $150

The screen hardness is garbage. I've never in my life broken a cell screen before the 6a - its its broken 3 times with no drops or physical damage. I think the body of the phone just flexes and the damn screen cracks left to right smack in the center... every time. It has to be a "soft" screen. I went back to using my old Sammy until the 6a is paid off. Not worth replacing the screen a 4th time.

Debating over trading in my recently repaired 5a... supposedly the 6a has a kind of bad modem, don't know if it's the same for the 5a. 5a has the black screen of death issue, and am afraid it'll happen to me again. 5a is out of support in August 2024 or something, and 6a is thru 2027. Maybe for that alone, it's worth spending ~$50 to get the 6a...

edit - based on the above comment, sounds like the 6a screen is just as fragile
