I have a G-shock and smartwatch, and much prefer the G-shock for everyday wear. I don't really use the wrist features of a smartwatch much, and the G-shock has many other advantages.

You charge your smartphone, you can charge your smartwatch.
Seriously comparing a g-shock to a smartphone/watch? These are durable cost much less and I bet by the time I change a battery you've upgraded your obsolete phone and watch twice for the newer models.

You're right that smartwatch charging isn't the problem some people make it out to be, but there's still plenty of market for digital non-smart watches that are practically indestructible, look after themselves for decades, and are inexpensive to boot

These things are bananas value for what you get. Great first watch for a younger person or just someone who doesn't care about fancy mechanical watches.
$83 at Amazon. May work out to about the same for Amazon Prime card holders, plus may be more convenient for some.
