I had a similar wifi extender before I got the mesh system. But the extender I had worked well! The internet reached all the way to the other side of the house. However, it did tend to slow down when more devices were connected to the extender.

Def helps w dead zones in the house and for $7 worth a try
My experience as well. The real solution most people are looking for is a mesh system. This is a decent low budget option that can solve for dead zones or limited range. The other problem with it is that it can cause devices to "skip" when changing between the networks. Mesh is superior in every way except price.
mesh system is better, right?
wifi extender would slow the download and upload speeds down to 30% - 50%.

Hi Guys,
Please beware. I just received this extender in the mail today and I had so much difficulty trying to get it setup that I called customer support. The website I got forwarded too ended up linking me to a number (616) 920-5034. Which I thought was odd immediately. I looked up Netgear SCAM and got the website below:

https://www.complaintsboard.com/n...am-c734933

The person on the phone (had an indian accent) sorry no offense but tried to access my desktop through AnyDesk APP on my MacBook. Now the red flags are flying and then he started going into a spiel about why I should have a firewall. Immediately, I was thinking this is such a drawn out process to setup a wifi extender and I immediately hung up. So this product is immediately going back because I think it may be a part of a scam. Or I got forwarded to the wrong setup website. I tried connecting through WPS with no luck either. But definitely not worth the hassle and is immediately going back. Hope this helps others.

For those who want to keep the device:
Instead of accessing the setup through www.wifiext.net just use the extender's IP address 192.168.1.250 and the setup is much easier this way.

Thank you for the advice.

Not sure why, but www.mywifiext.net did not connect, but 192.168.1.250 did. Was able to get it configured, and works well. Great deal for $7.
