I've been buying receivers from A4L for probably 15 years now. I always buy refurbs, the one problematic Onkyo I bought years ago had an HDMI issue and Onkyo honored the warranty and replaced the board for free. Highly recommend this seller. I'm currently using a Denon 950H I got a few years back on a pricing error for $299. Not enough reason to upgrade… yet. Maybe next year
Here's the Crutchfield breakdown on RX-V385 v. RX-V4A
https://www.crutchfield.com/S-07k...X-V4A.html

At a glance, the RX-V4A is 80 watts/channel (vs. 70 on the RX-V385), and supports Airplay 2, Alexa, and Google Assistant. Plus the HDMI 2.1/8k support you mentioned. RX-V385 has Bluetooth only, no wifi.

The RX-V385 is available from Accessories4Less for $199 now (also a refurb, but doesn't include free extended warranty):

I found this one for free earbuds: FREE50EPH

I'm looking for a 4 zone system does anyone know if I can use this receiver that way? Not totally familiar with multicast
This has zone B, which will output only what's playing on the main zone. If you want a Yamaha that will play separate sources, you want one that offers zone 2.

Yamaha musiccast will also sync sources between other Yamaha devices for full home audio playing the same source and/or different but managed from your phone or tablet.

Or you can use musiccast to setup wireless rear speakers or a subwoofer.

This receiver is about as cheap as you can get into musiccast.

I've been looking at replacing my SR8001 I've had for 15 years now... how much am I going to hate this AVR from a power standpoint? Powering 2x Polk RTI8's, CSI5 Center, and 2x FX5 surrounds.

Going from 120W to 80 is a huge difference with speakers with low sensitivity. Get another Marantz or Denon with 120W.

Bought a factory refurb Yamaha receiver from this place a year back and it was DOA. Blew sparks out the moment i plugged it in. Was a few emails in exchange and they sent me a prepaid UPS label to return it and a refund when they got it.

A lot of the refurb Yamaha AV receivers are returns due to HDMI eArc handshake. More of annoyance that may have you power receiver & tv on and off one out of five times.
I'm looking for a new receiver specifically because I can't get my LG B2 OLED to pass audio to my old Marantz 1402 via ARC. Are there any good brands for ARC/eARC compatibility or ones that work better with LG?

Looks like a good deal, but when I went to the site they said that it only includes a 1 year warranty. The OP said that a + 2 year free extension got included in the cart and I definitely didn't get that.

I have this. Bought it on black Friday. It's awesome and I have no issues with it. I'm super jealous how low the pricing is.

Are you saying the SHARC isn't a great experience?
The SHARC is actually amazing (though I just upgraded my receiver, so I don't need it now)

It's just that my LG C1 OLED turned out to limit my codec support, not something I expected.

Sorry to hear it, the extended warranty was auto-included in the cart when I checked out two days ago, no code required. Maybe this part of the deal is dead.

Btw, Yamaha A680 and A780 are +$100 and +$150 respectively. I bought A780 and it's just amazing. It's much better Aventage line for not that much more money. Mine felt new, despite being "refurbished". I suspect they just sell old stock like that

Silly question...

What problems would I run into trying to use this with nothing hooked up to the HDMI out?

I am quite specifically considering trying to use the HDMI inputs for digital audio from computers.

But at least so far, my GoogleFu is not working out very well for finding much on this kind of setup.

Not to thread crap, but for a little more you can get Onkyo 6050 refurb on ebay.

Goes for $250 to $300
Just picked one up at $285. Not sure I need the second HDMI out or the two extra channels, but seems like a good deal.

Nice. Does that include shipping?
