Please people getting these. You need to go through and register as well as abide by the rules. There's a reason why state parks and such have bypassed the FAA and made laws to prevent flying in parks. Watched a dude yesterday who bought one and was unlicensed goofing off. The blades can cause serious harm.

Be safe and represent the community properly. They are great for vacation trips and convenient for many situations. Heck I use an older model to inspect my roof from time to time.
You can fly in parks, they can not "bypass" the FAA. You can not take off or land within a national park, but you can fly in it otherwise as they still do not own the airspace, the FAA does.

You are being a bit pedantic. Just cause you can doesn't mean you should. They are just trying to limit forest fires from lithium batteries and animal harassment/injuries from morons flying them.

I would also have to question if you are following FAA guidelines flying from one area to another and still able to maintain line of sight. I'm sure you can in some areas (deserts/flatter landscapes), but I would bet that in most areas (forest/woods: the most at risk) you would not be able to.
How many forest fires are caused from drone lithium batteries? Please cite your source….this sounds like more stretching than a hot yoga class…

These are under 250 grams so you don't need to register them and even if it was over 250 grams there's no licensing for recreational use.

I keep wanting to jump into this for vacations, but I feel like most places are restricted.

This is correct. You can take off from outside and fly in the park. But still have to have line of sight and there is a gray area on using the emergency landing requirement if you can't exit the park to land.

And what I meant was yes they have bypassed the FAA using local laws that are abusing the FAA law for states etc to create laws to keep the public safe. My local government definitely is abusing it because there are county parks that say you cannot fly in them.

Well, seems like were getting more deals on the non-Pro Mini 3 much faster than we've seen them on the Pro.

Most are not. Especially overseas. I just took one on my Slickdeals trip to Bora Bora and the footage is insane.
