You want the Magnesium L-Threonate [thedizzycook.com] version of magnesium. It's far more expensive than Glycinate though.

"MAGNESIUM L-THREONATE
A newer type of magnesium, magnesium L-threonate is one of the only forms of magnesium that has been shown to penetrate the blood brain barrier, directly raising the magnesium levels in the brain. In studies, it played a positive role with improving Alzheimer's and other cognitive issues.

Developed by MIT grads, Magtein [magtein.com] promotes improvement of learning abilities, memory, and cognitive function. It even helped me get rid of my morning brain fog, a common symptom with Vestibular Migraine. This type also doesn't contain laxative properties that you would find with citrate or oxide. The downside? It's expensive. But since I wrote this article almost five years ago, this is becoming a widely recommended supplement, just based on my own experience with threonate for migraine, as well as my readers!

Threonate is a good supplement to use in addition to another form of magnesium so you're saving money, and reaping benefits from both. It would be difficult to get the total amount you need when most capsules only contain 72-144mg total.

Final Thought: Magnesium Threonate is good for cognitive function, energy, and brain fog. "

Don't be misled by the label. The doctor's best has 100 mg of MAGNESIUM which is basically 1000 mg of magnesium GLYCINATE per one pill. The one that you listed has only 500mg of MAGNESIUM GLYCINATE which is about 50mg of actual magnesium. Please do some research before buying supplements. You may unknowingly overdosing/harming yourself with supplements

Thanks OP!! You just save me some $$. Much appreciated!
I always order the 240 count bottle and was able to take advantage of the 30% S&S offer on that one also. I take 2 pills (along with 50mg of Zinc) and have the best sleep with vivid dreams.

If anyone is wondering which Magnesium to take, just google "Magnesium bio availability chart."
Here is one article I found that might be helpful:
https://thedizzycook.com/magnesiu...-migraine/
FYI - This product is Magnesium GLYCINATE and NOT Magnesium OXIDE like one comment suggests.
Glycinate is the best and most readily absorbed form of Magnesium. Also, I purchase the 240 count bottle which has a higher dosage.
I take this for sleep (2 or sometimes 3 pills just before bed) and it works like a charm!
Happy shopping and sweet dreams!

Technically, Magnesium L-Threonate ("Magtein") is by far the most readily absorbed, including into the blood-brain barrier even better than Glycinate does, but it costs a lot more than Glycinate. Due to the Threonate version being so expensive and cost-prohibitive for most to reasonably afford on an extended basis, for 90% of people out there who actually need Magnesium supplementation the Glycinate version is sufficient.

Yikes! I just checked the price for L-Threonate! Did I mention I use Glycinate for better sleep? If I paid that much I would stay up all night! LOL!

Is this good for sleep? My teen son has been having insomnia. Tried Valerian Root which seems to help a bit, but avoiding Melatonin for now because of possible hormone disruption in teens.

Should add that for some reason a supplement called ZMA (zinc and magnesium) used to CAUSE anxiety for me if taken before bed. Is everyone different?

What type of magnesium do you recommend? Every time I have tried them, several different types, I'm completely exhausted that day and the following day.
Try magnesium malate. I have problems with this one as well.

It's also a sleeping aid, so take it about an hour or so before bed! If you're exhausted that means you're deficient in magnesium. If/when you drink, your body basically hemorages magnesium.
