Previously FP for $17

Check the box for 40% coupon and use promo code B8TCQSP6 for another 10% off

It came out to $13.83+tax for me.

Darren Walker YouTube channel gave it 4.5/5 stars and customer reviews are likewise excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlpG12u0L3o

I've had one for almost 2 years and have been very happy with it, so I picked up another one with this deal.

Cue the "Chinese junk! Just buy a Fluke for 10x as much." replies...

It doesn't take a Fluke - not everyone needs lab quality instruments, but at least get some type of brand name; Klein comes to mind. They'll be more accurate and last longer; you get what you pay for.

"You get what you pay for" Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) You do realize this is a deal site?

By that logic, when the Check Engine light on my Toyota comes on, I should say to myself "I knew I should have sprung for the Lamborghini! Buy once, cry once!"

Klein meters are probably fine, but speculations about their longevity aside, you're definitely (*verifiably) going to pay several times more for a meter with similar accuracy to this.

I do realize this is a deal site. When I used said site to get my Weber Genesis for $200, I said "wow, what a deal on an excellent quality grill". I paid a Charbroil price for a Weber - that was a deal.

This is a $15 meter that regularly goes on sale for - wait for it; somewhere in the neighborhood of $15.

I would question both the stated accuracy as well as the longevity, but neither have the time nor the interest to waste to prove either.

If someone's intent is "just to have one in the toolbox" then they probably aren't regularly taking advantage of features such as auto ranging or truerms. In that case, they are better off with a $30 Klein that will get the job done for many years. If they need > 1% accuracy then they should probably spend the money on a Fluke.

I get it. You posted the deal, so you need to defend the value. I disagree that this is a good meter or good value - I wouldn't own it. I decided to comment because I have owned cheap meter over the years and have wasted my money over and over again when they break or stop reading correctly.

For reference my Fluke meter is over 25 years old and still works wonderfully. I switched to a Klein for the "toolbox meter" about 5 years ago, and it's still going strong.

Translation: you've never owned or even seen the meter in question, but you feel an overwhelming urge to say that yours is better

I have owned this exact meter for close to 2 years, and it has not deteriorated at all. I also own a Fluke meter, and I don't prefer using it over decent Chinese meters, but it works great and I keep it around for gucci purposes.

My only problem with Klein meters - and I admit it feels kinda shallow saying this - is the Porsche Boxster vibe. I'm sure everybody knows what I'm saying here.

No translation necessary. I tend to buy brands I recognize because I have a history with trying the cheaper brands, and experience has brought me to the conclusion that known brands tend to be better (more accurate, durable, last longer, more responsive support - I can't draw much more of a map for you).

I see you're stuck on "Klein". Feel free to insert any non-Fluke priced meter (GB, Extech, Greenlee, etc, etc, etc.

I'm glad you've had good luck with your Kaiweets meter. You say that it hasn't deteriorated at all, and I'm glad your $15 experience has been good (my previous "cheap" meters also worked great until the day they didn't.) it's also tough to ignore that these "rave reviews" garner a majestic "F" on Fakespot.

I have a old $5 Harbor Freight multimeter which is at least 10 years old and works just fine. Same with some cheaper Radio Shack (Voltcraft?) and Sears multimeters. The notion that a cheap multimeter will die in a year is ridiculous. I use my multimeters to measure AC and DC voltage, and once in a while continuity. If you're not a electrician who drags this to work every day or work with sensitive components where you need dead accurate measurements, this kind of multimeter is just fine.

I was thinking that I'd have to pay shipping since I don't have Prime, but there was an option at checkout for slightly slower shipping for free (expected delivery is April 30 and didn't need to opt for the Amazon trial either). Total with tax was under $15.

Here's a Youtube vid that gives an overview for those curious …

As an owner of two Flukes and a former EE, I would ask you a question - what do you think an average home owner or auto enthusiast would ever need accurate measurements for? I actually use $7 Harbor Freight DVM in my second home... to check batteries and continuity it's perfectly fine. Can bring of of the Flukes here but don't really see any need for it.

Looks like they're basically the same model according to this vid (although I kind of prefer the black color over the red on the Astro) …

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noUa__mCEug

It probably would have been good to grab that one for $8, but who knows how long it may be before that price comes around again.

Edit: actually, I just noticed that this one has an extra lead input connection over the Astro, so they're not total clones like the ones discussed in the vid, although still mostly similar.
