Not true. Many decent brands don't increase in value (unless there's another pandemic shortage). For example, Omega is very well known, and outside of their limited edition watches like snoopy and certain moon watches, they do not go up in value. B&m falls into this category of brands as well. They are a good brand, just not known to appreciate in value.
I would rather spend $12K+ on something that is worth my while than showing off. Rich people sure have money 💰 to spend so lavishly on stuff like this.

This is how the other half lives..
Some of us watch slick deals for discounts on ramen, some for this kind of things.
no judgement either way..
yes but rolex are an investment! i never wear my original rolex hulk and just have the 1:1 rep on for daily use. To date nobody can tell it's not the same as the original that's in my safe!
I guess I'm missing the point of buying a watch at that price you don't wear.

Same here. I don't get spending that much on a watch even if I had the money
Are you kidding? There is no such thing as a reputable merchant that charges $13k for a f..ing watch that does nothing but tell time. I'll save my valuable wrist real estate for something more functional.
I agree that this is a nice watch, and the price is right. Would've definitely jumped on it if the watch was a bit smaller. Value depreciation wouldn't matter for me as I'd purchase to keep it.
called resale value- rolex hold their value and if it becomes a limited edition you will get almost double for it in 5 years!
With today's inflation, PRICE may have doubled, but VALUE did not.
Actually, only reason that price has gone up is because Rolex has been raising their prices very quickly. Rolex sells almost MILLION watches a year, I can not imagine their watches going up in price all the time. I don't think there are over a million buyers of $10k watches every year. Just in last 5 years, there are almost 5 million more Rolex watches out there. That kind of inventory isn't sustainable.
They DO keep their value pretty well compared to MOST other watches, but I can see the second hand pricing coming down already. Will see how this fans out.
I don't see much point in just having a watch (or a car or anything else) If you are worried about wearing your watch, maybe you can't afford it? I just wear my watches everywhere.
One of the favorites in my collection was a Baume & Mercier Capeland XXL. Very limited production, titanium case and kevlar dial. I really liked it. Had it serviced at Baume once, they sent it back with marks on the case and gave me gruff about sending it back. I had video of the condition (being boxed and shipped both on the way to them and unboxed on the way back).
Their service department was a real let down, but the watch itself was great although I rarely wore it. I did keep it for over a decade, and sold it for $900 more than I paid for it so that specific model at that time did hold its value well.
I'd own one again.
